The babcock support in here blows me away lmao
People with poor reasoning love to appeal to authority. And since Babcock makes a lot of money that means he shouldn’t be fired. That’s about the depth of their analysis.
The babcock support in here blows me away lmao
Did you not see him try to decapitate Heinen(I think) and miss completely against Boston? He coughed up positioning, and missed. His first few games here, Muzzin was flattening people.
I think it was his 4th game when he stepped up and drilled someone resulting in a 2 on 1 against. He pretty much stopped hitting after that game.
He'll rub people out, but he won't cough up positioning for the sake of a hit. That is 100% on the coach.
How can someone go three finals including two back to back and ‘barely win’? You’re greatly underestimating all that goes into winning a playoff series, never mind 3 or 4.Babcock won 2 gold medals with 2 of the most stacked Canadian teams in Olympic history, and barely won one cup with a Detroit dynasty.
These are his credentials people, these are his credentials...
I’m not sure anyone gives a damn about the coach but I think some are trying to hold the right people accountable. The babcock support in here blows me away lmao
Its one of the strangest trends I've ever seen. Sometimes you can't blame the coach for conceding an early goal in the period, like the goal off the faceoff coming out of intermission last night, but this doesn't make sense at all. What's commonly agreed upon is that Babcock likes to micromanage his teams alot, so its not as if they aren't prepared to start games and periods. I'm not exactly blaming the players , as the coach he should make adjustments to the game plan for the start of the game to avoid this but the players do seem to be behind the play until they concede a goal. Sometimes though, the roster just may be flawed enough like when Carlyle got fired and the Leafs were still trash despite people insisting he was the problem. I simply don't know what the problem is and I don't think the blame can fall squarely on one person. The most staggering stat for me aside from his in game decisions are that this team is never, ever, ready to play. We've allowed the first goal in 10 of 13 games this season, and at what point does it fall on Babcock for not having these guys ready to play.
I highly doubt the players go into each game thinking they're going to take the first 10 minutes off.
So are they overthinking strategy? Are they not getting proper matchups? scouting reports?
Something isn't right with the way this team prepares and when you change both assistants and turn over half the roster from last year, at what point does it fall on the head coach?
Honestly, I’m sure the players have tuned his sorry ass out. He’s patheticDid you not see him try to decapitate Heinen(I think) and miss completely against Boston? He coughed up positioning, and missed.
You’re right, I’d love to see more of that!

I won’t even address the rest because I’ve written it too many times but it’s obvious you didn’t watch any of those Red Wing teams.
I’m not sure anyone gives a damn about the coach but I think some are trying to hold the right people accountable.
The superstars don’t consistently play like it, the defense core is even worse than last year, and the whole team is charmin soft. I don’t blame the coach for that.
Yes it’s his fault. He’s the one putting together all the game plans out there. Our breakouts, defensive structure, line combinations, TOI distribution, power play structure, penalty kill structure.Dubas was handed a 105 point team, gifted John Tavares and has turned it into a .500 team.
The babcock support in here blows me away lmao
Babcock is getting close to being fired, no doubt when things go this way, firing the coach is the logical, easiest move. That said, while he’s made many mistakes, this latest heartless phase we’re seeing is solely on these players, the embarrassment is on them. You’re asked to show up 82 nights a year, your PA negotiated you hardly even practice anymore, so the least you can do is answer the bell every night with effort. Some nights you don’t have it, but you’re in the game working. Watching a guy who wanted to be Captain, is paid the cream of the league cash, waltz around with the intensity of a beer league game, that’s on him, coaching is a scapegoat.
We will fire Babcock, everyone will look invigorated, it will be a wake up call, but it won’t excuse this **** show we’ve seen.
But we’re soft Future....we’re soft!!!Pretty much boils down to “Ya I know we have one of the most talented young teams in the NHL, right up there with Colorado and Tampa, but it’s Dubas’ fault we’re not performing up to expectations for a 2nd consecutive year”
Makes zero sense. How long were we treading water with mediocre talent as a fringe playoff team? Now 4 years later we’re in the same position yet we have added two top 10 centres in the league, two top young scoring wingers, plenty of depth at forward, a capable defence, and a number 1 goalie. 3 years ago we didn’t have any of that, Phil Kessel was our best player, yet we’ve basically had no improvement in terms of actual success.
Yes it’s his fault. He’s the one putting together all the game plans out there. Our breakouts, defensive structure, line combinations, TOI distribution, power play structure, penalty kill structure.
Yah...it’s Dubas lol
No you just make a nice generalized statement without really getting into WHY we might be underperforming and lay it all at the feet of DubasDid I say anything that was not factual ?? The ball is in his court, fire the coach if he is the problem.
What a convenient cop out for them. Anyways, remove their little security blanket and become men then. And what if his "I dont give a ****" attitude is because of the coach?
What if this coach has completely lost the room, and the players are waiting for him to be fired?
Lot of people say this is on the players, not the coach. Well maybe it looks like it's on the players because of the coach.
Because they got tired of this stubborn egoist piece of ****.
That might be right, but isn’t that even more concerning?Honestly, I’m sure the players have tuned his sorry ass out. He’s pathetic
Does he coach the defense to be soft down low, give up body position, not play physical etc? Are they coached to make bad reads, bad pinches, bad turnovers etc?Yes it’s his fault. He’s the one putting together all the game plans out there. Our breakouts, defensive structure, line combinations, TOI distribution, power play structure, penalty kill structure.

Maybe dubas does want to fire babcock but shanahan won’t let him?
Yes, it’s the coaches fault that Tyson Barrie can’t win a board battle against a girl guide. That might be right, but isn’t that even more concerning?
If you don’t like your boss, are you allowed to ignore him/her and give a half assed effort? ... And if you did, is it more likely you get canned, or your boss?
Most great coaches aren’t well liked. If you can’t play hard for a guy you don’t like, the problem isn’t the coach.

Players tuning out their coach is absolutely NOTHING new in professional sports. Especially after questionable after questionable decisions have been made year after year. Most great coaches are at least respected, I question if the squad even respects babcock now. Doesn’t seem like it.That might be right, but isn’t that even more concerning?

Whose fault was it last year in period 3 of game 7 running out our 3rd and 4th line time and time again? Not stacking the power play? Running out the second unit first etc?Yes, it’s the coaches fault that Tyson Barrie can’t win a board battle against a girl guide.
What a way to frame it. So adding Jake Muzzin, John Tavares, Tyson Barrie, Kerfoot, Mikhaev, etc. just isnt enough for Babcock to get the job done?
Are you trying to say that Kadri, Gardiner, Hainsey, Brown, Marleau, etc. were significant assets who were driving this team’s regular season success?
Absolutely ridiculous.
Hard to find a player that can agitate, is a legit hard ass that can play on your top line, but that’s what this group needs. Kind of how edm uses Kassian. Rumor was that the leafs tried to acquire him in a trade for brown but oilers refused. Shows that dubas has thought along those lines.I said it last season that I'm done with Babcock but if you seriously think a coaching change is all we need than I dont know what to say. This isnt just "change the system". This team lacks balls. They lack heart. It'll help getting Dermott,Hyman and Tavares back but they clearly need another player like a prime Lucic or Simmonds. Someone with sandpaper who wont take **** and make the opposition pay. I know people think Kadri was that guy but he really wasnt/isnt.
Who’s disagreeing with you?Whose fault was it last year in period 3 of game 7 running out our 3rd and 4th line time and time again? Not stacking the power play? Running out the second unit first etc?

It’s not, but I question the commitment of anyone who isn’t trying to buy in. Whether it’s the best or the worst way, nothing will work if they don’t have everyone pulling the rope. I question the character of anyone who gives up on the coach because he doesn’t like the game plan.Players tuning out their coach is absolutely NOTHING new in professional sports. As for all your comments about the defence, some of that is on the players and some is on the coaches as far as I’m concerned. The players need to be better but perhaps a look also needs to be taken at what kind of defensive system the coaches are trying to implement *shrug*
