So Babcock needs to go... (Part 2)

Everyone looks at this roster as "soft" but there are an abundance of situations where the leafs player should take the body and the outcome of the play would be more favorable (whether that's rubbing a body out to create puck separation or bodying an attacking player at the blue line to break up their momentum). I put that on the coach and his play style. If I am wrong and it is just the players avoid physical contact every chance they get then this is a flawed roster. To me it looks like the players are being coached to play this way.

Regardless the IDGAF attitude that's been apparent since game 1 this year is alarming and that in itself is indicative of a coach that has lost his team.

People can harp on the GM all they want, it's the coach that has the team trying the same thing again and again and again and again. The stretch pass doesn't work. The drop back on the power play doesn't work. The umbrella doesn't work. The defensive system doesn't exist.

This team has seen a LOT of roster changes over the last few years, but the game plan has stayed the same.

Babcock does some things well. He's better than any coach the Leafs have had since Quinn. But there is no adaptability in his game whatsoever. He's far too stubborn to change anything.

I think I’m going to listen to myself now

I said it last season that I'm done with Babcock but if you seriously think a coaching change is all we need than I dont know what to say. This isnt just "change the system". This team lacks balls. They lack heart. It'll help getting Dermott,Hyman and Tavares back but they clearly need another player like a prime Lucic or Simmonds. Someone with sandpaper who wont take shit and make the opposition pay. I know people think Kadri was that guy but he really wasnt/isnt.

This is all on Shan
Shanny should be fired for appointing the current GM.

Agree! This GM has no idea what wins championships. None of our players know how to play defence. How do you trade Kadri your best defensive forward for a players that can’t play defence. How does that make your team better. Ceci is horrible, Spezza can’t play hockey anymore and Barrie looks lost out there. On top of that the contracts he gave out are putting us in cap hell. Another year will be wasted. We might not even make the playoffs this year. Shanny made the mistake of putting Dubas in charge, the Leafs GM should never be an inexperienced newbie it’s not an entry level job.

Babcock needs to learn reverse psychology.

He needs to walk in the room and say "f**k it guys. No gameplan tonight. Go play shinny hockey"

The team would probably pitch a shutout with Hutch between the pipes.

Dubas built this pile of softness.

So yeah... fire the coach :shakehead:

Anyone who blames Dubas is literally clueless or just hasn’t been paying attention the past 4 years.

Despite massive roster turnover, we’re still having the same issues. Why is that? Babcock has taken zero accountability for our poor results. He has all the talent to work with in the world yet regularly throws everyone but himself under the bus despite being a significant factor in our failures.

Meanwhile, the Bruins already have 3 shutouts this season - in 10 games. T.H.R.E.E.

And we can't even get the puck out of our own end.

so many hot takes..

like, imagine thinking its a good idea to play your better goalie on the 2nd night

do any of you complainers have the record for teams in the NHL on the 2nd night of back to backs? i promise its bad
