Maybe Murray can find his way again?

Some names that come to mind… not sure if all are available but any of those would be an upgrade over rolling with koskinen/skinner for any length of time.

If the following players got put in waivers - how many get claimed ?
- Koskinen
- smith
- koekoek
- barrie
- Keith
- perlini
- turris
- Ryan
- benson
- Russell
-laggeson
- sceivor
-shore
???????
- keep in mind, this is half the team
Honestly? Barrie, Russell and maybe Ryan due to face-off and PK prowess. Possibly Benson.

Their depth has been horrendous and Tippett's deployment routinely leaves these guys outmatched throwing them out there in odd combos after goals scored. Even guys like Kassian and Foegele have struggled in the bottom six. Zero chemistry.

It’s time for people in here to just stop typing the name “Swayman” when including him in these lists of washed up and/or terrible goalies. He isn’t getting traded.

most logical - would be something like

Koskinen 4.5
2nd 2023
Foegele 2.75
TOTAL= 7.25

for

Mrazek 3.8
Ritchie 2.5
Engvall 1.25
TOTAL = 7.55

Oilers get a #1 with term and decent number and cost certainty
Oilers get someone who can play 3C or 4C for them in Engvall and can PK
- Ritchie can/would be a wildcard (def better than Turris)

Leafs get pick and Foegele - Koskinen is a complete cap dump
Why trade for another goalie that is injured all the time

My point wasn’t that he’s amongst those goalies… he’d be the best of the group to target. Not saying Boston would even move him just an option. If oilers hand you the moon it’s at least worth a consideration.

Tough one. any gambling problem, locker room cancer, protocol violating goalies available?
There were three moves I did not agree with in the off season
Signing RNH, contract is too much and too long in my eyes
Signing Barrie must I say more
Trade for Keith
That is about 15 mil in cap space that is tied up and playing to the contract

I was fine with the Ceici signing and Bear trade
Yes, RNH is producing on the PP and that is it, still bad on the dot.

should of spent the money either signing another goalie or trading for one

You have a very negative way of looking at things. It is a really big stretch to view Koskinen's expiring contract as a negative.

Smith's contract does go for one more year, but it is a low cost contract and that should be it for his career in the NHL. So the Oilers aren't tied down to mediocre goaltending for any real length of time.

Your spin on Skinner is really something. He is a rookie goaltender, but his numbers in the AHL are really, really good. So he is developing properly. No one is worried about Skinner in Edmonton.

So you think the Oilers will have no one to play in net next season? Is this the gist of your post? Kind of.. well, silly to say that, don't you think?
The team has to play better defence, that is a major issue, including McD and LD it starts with them

I think they will trade Ullmark before Swayman

If i'm a free agent next year and the Bruins just traded a guy they signed to a four year contract, I think i'd have some questions for the organization and think twice about signing with them. They don't even give the guy a half a season to take the starters position before trading him?

And there is also the fact that he has a no movement clause for this year and next. Rask is 34 and just came back from major hip surgery. Bruins aren't moving any goalies right now.

Well what is the difference with now since they plan on letting him on the bench

1. Have to disagree with you here. RNH took a discount to sign here. Good signing by Holland.
2. Yeah, although it isn't a long contract I feel with Barrie Holland was playing musical chairs with defensemen and got caught standing when the music stopped. So he signed a player the tema already was familiar with.
3. Yup, brutal trade. Retention and a pick should have come from Chicago. Keith has been good enough but nowhere near for that kind of money.
4. Ceci was okay.
5. Agree. I was lukewarm on the Bear trade, and saw a lot of Cane fans on here brag about getting a young top pairing guy from Edmonton. Bear was always a work in progress, Foegele should be part of the solution here, not part of the problem.
6. The musical chairs thing also applied to goaltenders. Holland got caught and went with plan B, hoping and praying it would work out. It clearly hasn't.

Since the start of the season, their system has been questionable. They were letting in too many goals since day one. The issue was that they were outscoring everyone for awhile, so a lot of people overlooked what was going on, but the Oilers need some serious help in terms of defensive structure. I don't think the individual pieces are the answer in most areas, its the system that isn't working.

Ben Chairot + Jake Allen + Lehkonen for EDM 1ST.
Pass. Holland has said he isn't buying rentals, so that puts our interest in Chairot at a minimum. Plus, our 1st should only be available for Jake Allen isn't our goalie of the future, and we don't have space for another backup with Smith still on the books for next year. I have time for Lehkonen on our 3rd line, but the others are probably not a fit.
