Great performance from the Slovaks. They had the hustle and didn't break their defensive structure much.

Sloppy game from Team Canada. Top two lines couldn't get much done. Weren't very hard on pucks and little net drive. Going to have to bring something better than that against Finland.

Hats off to Slovakia. They played a tight checking, defensive game and kept it close. Canada...yikes :help:

I didn't watch this game but based on the stats Slovakia seems pretty good defensively (shutout vs Switzerland too). I don't think Finland will have easy time with them either.

Slovakia played quite well, I'd say they executed their game plan about as good as they possibly could. Offensively this was a big let down for Canada, they were stuck on the perimeter and couldn't get anything through to the net. Defensively I thought they did a good job, Slovakia's only chances were deflected shots up until their PP goal.

On to the next one, but Canada needs to execute better to have a chance vs Finland and into the medal round.

Was cheering up for Slovakia to tie this in that final minute. They were playing really good anyways. Apparently their coaches know how to prepare them tactically and mentally. It is quite unfortunate Slaflovsky and Nemec made fatal mistakes before the 2nd, 3rd goal respectively. They were both among the best Slovak players in the game, they just took the risk, wanted to make the key play which would bring their team the equalizer. I know some fans in Slovakia are surely going to criticize them now, but hell, this is what a hockey player should do being one goal behind within the dying minutes of the 3rd period. I always like it when the players' mindset is like "we are going to tie this one, no matter if we loose 1-2 or 1-3, we just want to win."

Very respectable effort by Slovakia. Not so for Canada, but that is still a useful game I imagine. Plenty to work on and it's good to face some adversity at this point. It seems clear that Canada's best forwards so far are not the players that the coaching staff believes they are, at least for now.

The Byram-Drysdale pairing was awesome.

Most of the forwards didn’t show up. Thought Cozens, McMichael, and Newhook flashed, but overall not nearly good enough from the forwards.

Byfield not looking good.. Slovakia congrats you came really close and if Canada out I'm cheering for you guys..

Majority of the team did not play that great but I knew there would have to be someone to crap on Byfield because its a habit now....

Man.... it sucks but at what point do we start to really question Byfield at 2 overall? Thats a team that had way less ksill than Canada and they gave a tough go. Its the exact type of game where you would want to see a 6'4, 2nd overall pick take ove for a couple shifts and create some chances.

Absolute no show

Canada needed a game like this, the Slovaks had zero offense but made it entertaining.

Zero offense? They had enough opportunities to win this game. A few really close calls where they missed the net by a few mm or failed to get a shot off. Levi also had to make key saves.

Yes when the slovaks have players like Lundell, Heinola and Lambert today, Canada lose this game.
