WC: Slovakia 2023 Roster Talk

BRANKÁRI:
Samuel Hlavaj, Dominik Riečický, Stanislav Škorvánek.
OBRANCOVIA: František Gajdoš, Martin Gernát, Mário Grman, Michal Ivan, Samuel Kňažko, Patrik Koch, Dávid Mudrák, Mislav Rosandič.
ÚTOČNÍCI: Peter Cehlárik, Viliam Čacho, Martin Chromiak, Marek Hrivík, Libor Hudáček, Miloš Kelemen, Andrej Kudrna, Róbert Lantoši, Mário Lunter, Oliver Okuliar, Richard Pánik, Pavol Regenda, Matúš Sukeľ, Alex Tamáši.

The management of the national team will wait to see how the situation develops regarding the potential arrivals of goalkeeper Jaroslav Halák and defender Šimon Nemec. Defender Michal Beňo and forwards Maroš Jedlička and Adrián Holešinský left the team after Saturday's personnel cuts.

The goal is QF and it’s certainly possible, defense would be improved by Nemec but still quite weak. Halak would be huge, capable of stealing games against better opponents. I still won’t bet against Ramsey right now, despite how bad the preliminary matches have looked.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

Medal or bust.

Also the fact that they didn't announce Halak was a hard no right away gives me hope.
It doesn't mean I gave up hope, though. I'm just preparing for the worst because the last few games have not filled me with confidence.

Still, Ramsay has a good track record and I'll be more than happy to be wrong on this one.

What a joke. Lunter over Jedlička shows that agents probably still have an influence over the nomination, i cant explain it otherwise. What exactly has he ever brought to the team? Jedlička had a chance to give himself a boost to his career even if he started on the 4th line....

Is not Lunter very speedy and hardworking, hence perfect for 4th line?

Lunter and the words speed and hardworking do not go together. Amazes me that Jedlicka was cut for him.

Frühauf being involved with this team, feels like I am being trolled or something… Some of these decisions and way we played in preliminary matches gives me flashbacks to pre-Ramsey era :help:

Czech media said Halak is very much in play. Said Nemec was called up to NJ after Calder cup elimination. Hope both make it. Big Halak fan.

It's always interesting for me to look into the Slovakian roster, compare it to the Latvian one and then compare the expectations of each fan base.

You guys are missing most key players and your goalies would normally make the Slovakia C team if everyone was available. Player by player, I cannot see a real difference in quality between Latvia and Slovakia with the players at hand at this point and time. Without Nemec and Halak, Latvia might even have a slight edge.

Yet you guys are actually considering a top 3 finish. That's not to say you're wrong, but what amazes me is that a lot of Latvian fans are more concerned about getting relegated than making the play-offs.

Just a little rant I wanted to share with you

I actually think Skorvanek is a good goalie who is getting severely underrated here. Sure he's a late bloomer but why does it matter now. Not too different from Franzreb who might end up being Germany's starter.

They won't change the roster after a win unless someone is injured.

But one thing is clear, Swiss and Slovakian are rooting for the Canes. :)
