Yep, I think the entire organization needs a new direction. The whole thing is stale.
Said in the off season Old boys club vibes do not work, so please observe exhibit A.

I don't expect this to be a happy place tonight. I have to say I liked the team's effort, generating some quality shots and scoring chances, played a good game against a tired team. Hellebuyck needed to make the big save to match Fleury, and it wasn't his night. That 3rd goal was a back breaker.

Neal Pionk I don't feel like he had a bad game but when 3 pucks go in all from your side of the ice, there are probably things you could change. The first goal I thought was a soft play where Pionk has to step up and finish the winger, Sundqvist, to dislodge the puck, especially with winger support from Maenalanen. Hesitation and miscommunication and it's a deficit the Jets couldn't erase, in spite of a good start. Morrissey didn't really give him any support on any of those goals, and I wouldn't be surprised if that limited edition pairing gets split up again. I think Logan Stanley had a decent game tonight, I wonder if this reopens some 7 d alignments again because Samberg deserves to play too.

Really liked the checking line tonight, they got scored on, but that's not the highest risk play of their game, they spent a lot of it creating some chances around Fleury. That Barron kid continues to impress me. Lowry is still struggling a bit, but he did set up a nice chance for Gus, which left me saying there's a reason why that guy has no goals.

I liked Ehlers game a lot more. Much more engaged and in the dirty areas too. I hope that Bones recognizes him as a more dangerous player on the PP than Wheeler, who just doesn't have the wheels to dig pucks, against a good skating team. I did like Wheeler on the draw, and I wonder if Wheeler could supplant Stenlund in the lineup, taking those RH draws.

I hope this board doesn't overreact to the Scheifele turnover at the end. Scheif knew. Skilled players make mistakes too, costly ones sometimes, but that's probably a play he's made 100 times in practice. Just missed it.

Team is fragile, but I haven't given up on them yet. If they got taken to the woodshed I would have a different view, but there was a good battle level. It's going to be a hard finish, and they may get overtaken, but they can still get things turned around. There's nobody coming to save the day now, so it's up to these guys to find a way to win these games.

And often they deserved to. This wasn't one of those times. In a game where a team dominates they'll still only win 4 out of 5 times. It's wrong to overreact to the 1 out of 5 where they lose.
What about the Sharks game? Thats 2-2 At what point are we allowed to say they are in trouble and have a hard time doing what they need to do to win hockey games? Moral victories wont get us into the playoffs.

I get the frustration and it’s certainly warranted, but the general reaction in here is way over the top for a game that we dominated and simply got bad goaltending. No I’m not saying it’s a moral victory. Just acting like the season is done today is a bit much after a game like that. We’re actually trending back in the right direction finally.

Said it in October and I'll say it again: this time is ride or die depending on Hellebuyck.

I get that but I also very much get what the other side of the thread says because how long is this supposed to last now? Because we've been playing a lot better lately according to the metrics and SOG numbers, sure. What is that worth if you still keep on losing the game at the end of the day?

Playing like garbage and deservingly losing a game because they don't care is one thing, and it sucks. Losing even though you're dominating the Sharks and Wild is another thing... and it is a thing that might be even more worrying when you look at the entire picture since the ASG. I think a talented team has an easier time to get out of a "not working hard enough" slump as compared to coming out of a "everything pretty much is awful right now BUT the metrics" kind of slump. What do you actually do to get out of a slump like that? Work harder? Return to the basics of your system? Win puck battles? Get in front of the net? Any other typical hockey classic? - but the numbers and the eye-test say, we're achieving all those things.

At that point I'm getting even more worried tbh.

The season isn't done today...that's absolutely true. But, it will be done with about 6 more losses. We can't afford to outplay teams and still lose many more times this year.

This team is 18th in SH% this year and last. Maybe this is just who they are in terms of finishing. Teetering on average to below average?

I’m telling you guys, we should be signing Don Gorske for our power play. It’s worth a shot.

Edit: Fine, let me explain. Don Gorske holds the world record for most Big Macs eaten. Believe the number is over 30,000 at this point. Why does this help, you ask? Well, I’m sure we remember Andrew “The Hamburglar” Hammond going on that insane run a few years back to drag the Sens into the playoffs kicking and screaming, despite being a career shitass goalie. The only logical explanation is McDonald’s, with all of their capital, researched and developed a super serum that increases one’s hockey skills to god-like levels. With that, I’m fairly certain McDonald’s injected Hammond with this serum as part of a marketing ploy to get their name in the press more often. And if they did that for Hammond, imagine what the serum could do for Gorske? He might be able to not only turn around the PP, but perhaps the entire team.

Yes, I don’t have any answers and I’m willing to try anything. If True North steals this idea I’m expecting at least a $100 Jets Gear gift card.
Outsider coming in here to say this is one of my favorite posts of the year so far, and that anyone that talks shit about your logic here is a jabroni.

I would play Helly almost every game from here on in, Helly always seems to play better the more he plays . Live or die on the Helly train.

I think we all should be worried but if they keep playing as they are they give themselves a chance to win every night and you'd hope the percentages would normalize and we'd start scoring more and get a few more saves.

Yeah, near the bottom of the league since January, but it’s about last night. Are they done? No, they aren’t. Are they headed anywhere? Highly unlikely. Not being negative, this team hasn’t looked good for a considerable amount of games now.

Yeah, you won`t get an argument from me on that point. It`s no secret I am not a fan of the style of hockey being emphasized this season. But we are not going to see any changes at this juncture, so the guy`s will have to really get back to basics and execute better on fundamentals if there is any hope of success.

No it won't change this year. I'm just pretty frustrated like most on here. Yeah it will come back to fundamental hockey which isn't a strong point for our group.

I don't mind our d and PK schemes but I'm so sick of this org having no clue on how to help our skilled forwards out. We aren't Colorado, Edmonton, NJ etc where we have a group of high skilled and incredibly quick forwards that can just pull teams out with pure speed or physical ability. What we have is a forward core with players with high levels of hockey iq. We need to build schemes that work around this but we just either play system less hockey in the ozone or incredibly basic puck to point and shoot it at net with traffic hockey. They need to build things that take advantage of our players ability to play In traffic, understanding of lanes and spacing etc....

I just don't get it, this team prioritizes hockey IQ on draft day more then any other attribute but doesn't employee systems to take advantage of it.

Six more losses? You think Calgary is going 14-3?

well, I guess not...I'm jut going by what it generally seems to take to get in. What do you figure the line is going to be? I mean maybe we can afford 8 more losses. But at this point I'm not real confident this team will achieve that even.

Personality clashes have ruined many a sports dressing rooms and I feel this is likely what is and has been happening here

I feel it's 55 26 and 81 vs the rest of the room. Why? Call it a hunch. Actually think it's just 55 and 26 but I think KC is their boy. Heard rumors 55 only wants to play with KC.
I wonder what your tin foil budget is

This team has been riding Helly's coattails since the day he started playing for the Jets.

Last nights game show the Jets exactly what they are without Vezina goaltending.... a team on the outside of the playoffs looking in and wondering just how high a draft pick they can get.

Should Helly had stopped that 3rd goal? Sure. Should Helly have been playing better lately? Sure. But here is the thing .... After carrying this team on his back for so long, why can't Helly take a night off, when the rest of the team has been taking a night off since the 2018 playoffs.
