Forsling bounced around a bit before he established himself with the Panthers. There were GMs who even put him on waivers. So all GMs make mistakes. And it seems Yzerman made a mistake moving Walman. It’s just Yzerman seems to have a longer leash to make more mistakes than other GMs.
They probably thought he had already hit the Walman.
walman was a top 4 guy here lol but that was a horrible trade, but None of us in Detroit care about Hronek. He was a 2/3 guy here which you forget. But he’s the opposite of physical, always seemed to have lingering injuries here and played bad in big games. I would much much rather have ASP (who is an elite prospect) than Hronek. We also don’t have Quinn Hughes helping mask his deficiencies.

Naw, Edvinsson is getting Walman's spot and looks great. Walman would be paired with Petry and probably getting dragged down hard. Probably best for Walman that he did get moved.
Hronek isn’t worth his contract and if Walman keeps this up he won’t be worth his next contract either. They also got Sandin-Pellikka from the Hronek trade. Yzerman has made mistakes but these trades aren’t among the more significant ones.
Is there a limit to how many good defensemen a team can have? Walman would be an improvement on whatever other 2 LD the Wings trot out- Chiarot, Gustafsson, Johansson. You are right that it was best for Walman to be moved.
