That San Jose power play is great. They're absolutely picking the Kings apart. The Sharks are using the Kings aggressiveness on the penalty kill against them. Quick stick to stick passes lead to quality chances.

The Kings aren't playing that poorly except special teams. They got two days to figure that part out. Win on Friday and pressure's on again. Of any team, the Kings know how to get back in it.

I agree, I don't think we're done yet.

Who gives a **** about the cap space, there are no PLAYERS out there available to upgrade this team. Even if Brown decided to go live in a nudist colony this summer and the Kings got out of his cap hit scott free, there aren't any players out there to sign that improve the team.

??? There aren't players that could slot in above McBain/McNabb/Schenn/Scuderi? Nothing better then that's available?

The Mayor's tweets remind me of John Edwards' show in which he makes people believe he's talking to their dead relatives when in reality he's making educated guesses and passing them off as facts.

Wasn't that Long Island Median show bugging rooms, and recording people talking about their dead relatives, and feeding the host tidbits through a hidden ear piece ?

Hehe

Defense there's no one. Forwards, there are some very useful depth players that can fill Brown's cap space.

Meh, Lewis will have probably priced himself out. Clifford also may not be around, Jordan Nolan will have to fight for a spot again.

The bottom six will probably see a lot of change.

I could see Pearson being shopped. Got Kempe/Mersch coming on the wings. Pearson would have enough value to bring back a nice young defender.

Hope it's not the case.

I don't think so.

Pearson is only 23 and cost effective. Also the guy has never broke 40P, he is sort of a grinder/Tweener.

Those type of players don't land you a young stud defender.

Wouldn't get excited about Kempe or Mersch, I would bet both guys spend the majority of next season in the AHL.

I've been numb to the Kings crappiness throughout this series, but for some reason I'm pretty upset after this game. Feels like this team is headed into limbo where they have a couple of players good enough to keep them from being a bottom feeder, but lack the depth to be a real contender

Mayor pls

This team will go quietly out to pasture with pretty much this same core of players. Everyone is locked up long term. No one wants our bad contracts. We can't afford to trade our good ones.

Like Herby pointed out in the GDT, Lombardi had to watch his bonafide #2 RHD self-deport, his bonafide #2 center fall off the deep end, and his bonafide top power forward winger slip into obscurity.

No team in the world comes back from that. That would be akin to the Hawks losing Seabrook, Hossa, and whomever the hell they call their second center these days.

Imagine the Hawks D with Keith, Hammer, and leftovers. That's what the Kings have been dealing with since early 14/15.

They piled up a lot of points early this year when the Ducks and Sharks hit slumps and the Pacific was widely considered the worst division in hockey. They got a lot of points on gimmick 3v3 hockey. They were terrible on the dot this year, terrible on the PK, and on the wrong side of officiating most nights.

Carter injured. Gaborik injured. A-Mart injured. Pearson regressed. Toffoli lost for long stretches of time. The writing was on the wall for this team for a while. A lot of us just refused to see past the smoke and mirrors.

Without a pretty Herculean effort from both Kopi and Doughty in the regular season, we may have not even made the playoffs again if literally any other team in the Pacific got their **** together.

I don't know how Lombardi will retool with so few tradeable assets and so many cap albatrosses. This is the cost of Cup-WCF-Cup. The Sharks know **** all about any of that.

But do indeed give credit to Deboer. He's exploiting a blueline that is incapable of moving the puck out of their own zone without one of Doughty or Muzzin.

It is what it is, as Damacles would say. SJ isn't winning anything this year, so stop with all that. This is their Stanley Cup.

On if the Kings can draw from being down 3-0 to San Jose in 2014:
Sutter: "No. We’re not down three to nothing, and it’s a different team".

Doesn't need to be a stud. Just decent. Maybe a young Martinez type.

Still wouldn't be enough for someone of A-Mart's caliber.

Teams don't trade players like A-Mart. It's why Defenders are always at a premium.

You have to draft em, and develop them. Schenn may very well be the best Defender on the UFA market come this off-season, what does that tell you ?

More interested in the Blues, this is sort of their year. It's lining up perfect for them with Kings/Hawks going down.
