There is no young Defender on the market or trade market that will be as cost effective as Toffoli.

The Kings would lose a lot of offense power trading him. You just don't trade young players like Toffoli.
 
It's why I have been "Meh" about hockey this whole season.

This team had a lot of points, and wins this season. Still there was something missing, too many games of non-(King) heavy type hockey last two years.
 
Barring a miracle the Kings will have traded a 2015 1st, 2016 1st, Martin Jones, Colin Miller and Roland McKeown and could very well end up with 1 playoff victory out of it.

It's a tough business but holy crap is that going to look like horrendous asset management.

And please don't compound it by re-signing this guy to a Richards/Brown deal. Just let him go home to Vancouver.

and think honestly with no Martinez the biggest problem with our defense is transition

add Deboer's 5-back neutral zone minefield and guys like Schenn, Scuderi, even McNabb have no chance of making an effective pass to a forward with speed

THat's part of the reason the units look so disjointed. Even when those guys DO make a pass, there's no thread because it's 3 on 5. And we're rarely doing anything at all in transition to get rush chances so...

The real concerning thing is, Trevor Lewis leads the Kings in goals right now...

Biggest problem is Sharks top players are killing the Kings.

Kings top players have been ghosts the majority of the series so far.

Those two have yet to prove what they can do at a pro level. Miller was sent down even on an average Bruins defense because of the exact thing that scouts said was a problem in his game. Hard shot, questionable defensive reads.

I cant believe how poorly carts, toffoli, lucic, carter, kopitar and doughty are all playing. no wonder were getting smoked in this series.

Carts especially looked terrible tonight.
 
I feel bad for Vinny, he seems to be playing his heart out there, if only that would rub off on the other players. Next game could be the last of one for him, sucks if we send him out on a terrible performance.
 
Kings can't get into a special teams battle and expect to win the series. Sharks 3-4 on powerplay, Kings 0-2. There's your game from tonight.
 
I enjoyed that game... dug themselves a hole, tried like hell to get out of it. Can't ask for much more then the effort they put in. Doom and Gloomers are in full force tonight.

Schenn was awesome tonight.

Probably not winning a cup with Scuderi on the top pair.

Honorable mention to Scuds and Schenn who are going as hard as their abilities will take them
 
Why does it have to be 3-0 before they start digging in deep and getting to the net?

That 2nd line has been completely useless. I don't even know if breaking them up does anything, because each guy hasn't done anything, but that can't be a line in Game 5. Toffoli has been invisible. Lucic, I was for the trade. He was brought in for the playoffs, and he's been one of the 5 worst players on the team in this series.

Pavelski, Burns, and Thornton. Game, after game, after game this year. They haven't had an answer defensively, or offensively, for those 3.

0-4 at home against SJ this year, and those 3 Sharks have done their most damage against the Kings in LA. After last year, and this playoff performance so far, should this be a quick exist, I think Lombardi will be free of feeling the need to keep the whole band together. It's been a while for Lombardi, but when a team loses that special spark, it's tough to get it back.

I can't believe how bad that 2nd line has been, both individually, and collectively.

Yeah, it's even worse than I thought. Lewis has more goals than Carter, Toffoli, Kopitar, Lucic, Gaborik, and Doughty combined!

You've got to give credit to the Sharks though, they are playing well, it's not just our guys sucking ass
 
The team we have right now, especially the defense, is not the team we had earlier this year. We became weaker with the trades of Schenn and Scuderi! Doesn't help that Martinez is hurt. We have no defense to create and sustain an attack let alone defend. We can get these great Corsi numbers against the the bottom feeders and the East. When you play top teams as evenly matched as you are up front you best have the D personnel to counter act that. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
