I like some of this.

I thought Rackell would be a good stylistic match for JT and Willy.

A big gun for AM and MM is the dream and I'll wager we all either want a serious power forward or Zach Hyman's son in that spot. I feel like Bert is in the middle there.

Thing is we aren't trading Willy. Our Core as management sees it according to CJ is

JT AM MM WN MR JM TJ. Of those JM is the only one up for debate and he's loved throughout the organization. He's our 2 cup guy after all. Obviously Gio joins this group.

We don't have a lot of moving parts.

For sure

Holl - spot is full anyway. We need a 750k #7
Mrazek - how is the question, buyout or trade?
Mikhayev - priced out, wants bigger role

Not if cheap

Kase
Campbell
Engvall
Labushkin? Tough call. Timmy is our only natural RHD. Obviously Brodie is fine there. I have Muz shifting to partner with Sandin but Bush gets a lot of games as Muz's injury sub.

Spare parts

Simmonds - probably done
Spezza- gets a 1000 points and starts coaching role or Ambassador or whatever.
Cliffy- probably keep around

Dubas has an easy summer except the goalie problem and that is really a matter of watching stages unfold and grabbing a solid opportunity. Wouldn't mind paying a 7th for Kuempers rights.

He's got til deadline to add a left winger but we know he will be looking for bargains with term.

Until we pay for our goalie I don't do a thing at forward.

At this stage of their rebuild Detroit is not about to give up good young players for just guys.

If Dubas is going to trade Willy to get the needed cap space, which is the only reason you‘D look to trade him, he deserves the respect to be traded to a team that has no chance to make the playoffs.

This whole bertuzzi crap has got to stop. If you trade william get me a core f***ing player like a parayko or a helly. If they're not available you don't just trade a superior player for other bits and pieces.
Parayko's defensive play took a nosedive a couple of years ago, he's not worth Nylander, and neither is Hellebuyck who is basically a coin flip every year as to whether he'll put up a season better than league average.

If Willy is to be traded it has to be for a young, upcoming winger who makes less to replace him, ideally with size.

Or a young Dman with size who can shoot the puck and plays hard. It’s much harder to keep track of prospects since they took the site down.

Kerfoot won’t be needed to add to Mrazek to get rid of him, the Leafs could even buy him out and shrink his hit by 2/3.

Kerfoot is 95% gone. Not because of his effort or anything, I’d like to keep him, but he’s good value and Dubas won’t have to give him away for nothing like Johnsson.

I think Dubas lowballs Mikheyev, maybe 3-3.5 but someone floats 5 and he’s gone. Blackwell also gets a richer offer and is gone. Kase I don’t really care, if he could play every game he’s a 4 million dollar guy.

Sandin, Engvall, Liljegren and Lyubushkin will be brought back in.

Holl is very probably gone for a pick and an AHLer.

Muzzin will be on Robidas Island next time he has a bad injury.

If Robertson isn’t on the day one roster in October than he’s never going to be. I know he’s only going to be 21 but that’s middle age for offensive prospects.

I’m wary about the UFA group, maybe add a 3rd line forward or two.

Nick Paul barely hit 30 goals in junior?
Nicky is not likely to come here unless he gets way overpaid .. I think he sold his condo in Liberty Village to buy his place in Ottawa .. his parents sold their home and biz here too she's from Compton, CA .. he lives in Estero, FL and i think has a couple condos there too .. Tampa will find a way to get him 2.3M and from a tax perspective he would need 2.7M here to equal out after tax .. anything is possible but it is highly unlikely .. Nicky's game is not about goals or assists .. he will contribute when needed with those .. but his game is about always being on da right side of da puck and doing whatever it takes to win .. i remember him and Barclay playing in playoffs against Ekblad/Colts and Colts had way more talent then NB .. but somehow Nicky figured out a way to take Ekblad's lunch in that series .. funny how things tend to rinse and repeat in pros .. i don't think Ekblad wants any more Paul in his life LOL

Kase is a $4M player for the 10 games per season he's fully healthy for, sure. He should retire at this point before his brain turns to pudding.

Lybushkin was no better than Holl in the regular season and noticeably worse (albeit while paired with Rielly) in the playoffs, so unless he signs for less (he won't), no thanks.

I'd be fine with offering Lyubushkin a 3 year $3mm total contract.
He's young enough and that amount can pretty well be buried.

I'm sure he'd love to face the Leafs.
Probably, but I think he’d prefer to be in AZ.

Next year the NHL should be back on schedule and he’ll be able to get the Worlds early enough to win the scoring title.

Boosh was just miscast - because of the way the team is built. But a guy who will go to war

I think he's going to get way more than $1M AAV. Erik freaking Gudbranson has been getting $2-4M every offseason.

Okay, give him a bit of a raise, but he might appreciate a contract with term.

He's had 4 one year contracts.

Give him some stability, heck give him a 5 year $7mm deal, with a nice front end signing bonus.

"He deserves the respect of being traded to a team that has no chance of making the playoffs"

^ Your words.

I thought that remark was really petty and childish.
His play in round 1 solidified his reputation. This guy shied away from Torey Krug on more than one occasion in past playoffs. He either doesn’t care or he is a chicken.

Yes, just ignore his accomplishments.

I can nitpick numerous screw-up by Marner and Matthews especially in OT in game six and all the times they were on the ice for goals against, usually winning goals.

How about Reilly and his lame defense against Paul in game seven or Numbnuts on the game winner.

Tunnel vision for the haters but go fill your boots because he will still be here next year.
