Should the Leafs make front office changes?

  • Yes, make a coaching change

  • Yes, hire a new GM

  • Yes, hire a new president

  • Replace the GM and let them bring in a new coach

  • Continue with the current president, GM and coach

  • Something else?

Results are only viewable after voting.
New President, New GM and then let the new GM pick the coach and decide the new vision for the future.

Clean front office. Their philosophy and mindset is of: 1) loser attitude, 2) easily satisfied, 3) self-congratulatory 4) incompetent, 5) victim personality 6) absolutely ZERO foresight

Need new vision and new voice that is competent and has foresight.

Dubas is whatever. But Keefe being replaced is a MUST.

His giggling at Tampa Bays textbook praise is like a grade A chump swooning over praise from a stripper.

Newsflash - ones for your wallet and the other is just courtesy Sheldon!!!!

What a chump. That’s our coach?
I rather have Montréal colours on the CN tower before this coach swallows coopers schlong.

Being in TrotZ Dubas… or get fired too

right now other teams fans feel pity for Leafs fans. This is what Shanahan and Dubas turned the Matthews era into. Pity from other teams fans lol.

Leafs played well enough to win that series. But I don’t think any team in the league would accept this many SECOND round exits. Let alone first round exits.

No thankfully the people who make decisions aren't as irrational as the fans. It sucks we lost, but we lost to Tampa. Hell even Stamkos said this was the hardest series they've played in a long time. If they win a third cup, and this was their hardest round maybe we don't need to make a bunch of changes.

It sucks, but we played well enough to win and we should have won. Tampa's still a damn good team, and the officiating was always questionable.

Don't want to fire anyone yet? Hire a special consultant from outside the organization to come in and challenge some of the assumptions being made in the front office. Someone with a lot of hockey knowledge and a hopefully autistic honesty that will rattle some cages. I'm imagining Scotty Bowman as the prototype but obviously someone much younger.

I agree with a chunk of this.

I think personally a lot of people are seeing "lost again." and lumping every loss together as if this one was as bad as last years or vs. Boston. - or people are using this loss to warp their agendas about certain people. (boy i sure didn't miss that about this place).

again. I don't know who is out there and available - I will say and I have nothing against Dubas [outside how he was hired], or Keefe [same] - but if there are better options out there I think you should do due diligence and see what they could offer.

While this series was really even (2 dominant performance each on both sides, the rest really tight, and 2 back and forth games) again maybe consider making a change or two to make people uncomfortable t continue lighting a fire under their butts. I don't think it's a good thing to just throw out the baby with the bathwater - but I do think the bathwater needs to be changed.

This just got interesting!

Here is hoping MLSE does not extend dubas just because of Matthews

If that happens; I would say well played Dubas. That is some serious chess you played securing your own job the hell with club success

Not being 18 million over the cap and losing quite a bit of impactful players would undoubtedly make things harder. Taking Stamkos' word on its own without context is wrong to begin with. It makes you assign value to where it doesnt exist

So we want a new GM doing their contracts with no loyalty amongst each other...that didn't work out well last time.

Dubas did not draft Matthews, Marner or Nylander. He inherited them.

The new GM can also inherit them and then decide what do with them contract wise and set a vision for future that does not include continuous 1st round exits, losing to zamboni drivers and becoming a JOKE in the NHL where the fans of the team have to hide their faces

Dubas is 100 per cent to blame

He didn’t address the goaltending issues at the deadline. Campbell was playing piss poor and mrazek was injured and not coming back. Even though jack had an ok series he gave us less than .900 save percentage. What was dubas back up plan if Campbell got hurt. An ahl backup in kallgren. Very poor management.

Not keeping muzzin out until the end of season. We could have used his 5.8 and picked up a couple of nice pickups like nick Paul with that cap.
Any other GM would do that but dubas is too concerned to hurt feelings.

Dubas is too nice and can’t make tough decisions
Time for him to go

When you lose 6 1st rounds in a row and every game 7, something needs to change. It is criminally insane to run it back and expect different results.

Now the question becomes: Have we tried everything there is to try to correct this?
What have we tried and what is left to try?
When you remove the impossible…

He also showed he is doing everything to support them and also has built a relationship with them.

A new GM comes in and the players can say I have no loyalty to this new GM.

No thanks.

No what we don't want is a rookie GM negotiating AM's next deal. I don't feel like Dubas' relationship with Matthews will necessarily result in any team friendly outcome. What happens if they fail yet again next year? Then Kyle is definitely gone and a new GM inherits Matthews after another unsuccessful playoff, and going into his final year on a nm. Is that guy going to be able to extend AM without him sniffing at FA status?

I will go out on a limb and say AM is not going to give anyone a deal any more than Mitch will, so no reason to stay the executioner for that reason. Maybe they are tired of failure and would be pleased for a regime change? I don't buy that they have a personal connection with the GM that will affect their economic decisions. Is there a history of players having more loyalty to a GM than to their team or their team mates or their coach? There may be an example but I can't think of one. Its a business and they want whatever they can get because its all in the hands of their agent.

Now dealing Mitch might have real repercussions but that doesn't seem like a thing we have to worry about. Kyle stays because he shows Shanny and ownership he has a plan and he is going to make moves to change the clubs mojo. Because he is ready to make the adjustments necessary to give the club a new look they haven't brought into the playoffs before. I wonder if the "I won't trade you" promise to Willie was meant to be forever, That would be a bizarre hill for a GM to die on.

You don't let inmates run the asylum. Just because of Matthews you don't extend a GM that has no foresight.

As far as I can see Dubas played his cards to the T; he made sure to give Matthews the 5 year term and inflated AAV, just so that Dubas' renewal is pressured on to MLSE. Well played dubas for his own employment and benefit. For sure

This by no means entitles Dubas to an extension. If Matthews wants to stay here he will stay here regardless of who the GM is. Under Dubas Leafs haven't achieved any playoff success anyway.

Plenty of players in the league who stay with the team eventhough GMs change, there is no reason why this can't be true with the Leafs either. If Matthews plays the dubas card because Matthews again wants to take Leafs to the shed with the money then good luck to Matthews in another club.

Thanks but no thanks

We are looking to win a cup and have playoff success.

Most true Leafs fans want to see the name Toronto Maple Leafs on the cup; whther underneath Toronto Maple Leafs it says Matthews or someone else is irrelevant. I love Matthews but not more than the Leafs. If he wants to be a contributing member of this franchise to the cup he will sign regardless of who the GM is
