He asked a question and I answered it.
I mean you did but then absolutely dismissed the thread because you didnt like it I suppose. Hey do what ya like I cant stop you, all I'm saying is its wasnt very nice to reply the way you did. That said most people are smug and miserable, so I shouldnt have expected otherwise. What ever is what it is.

Useless threads like this clog up the board and detract from the fruitful discussions. The less of these the better. Sometimes tough love and honestly is the best approach.

Not of a mind to tell anyone to lock this, but they are one of the better teams in the East with those two players still growing their games. There is no reason to deal either for a Cup run - plenty of deadline deals that get done with non-roster elements, almost all are draft pick based.

gotta disagree, no guarantees in life, can Foxy stay at this level for years, can Zibby do much better, can Igor play on this level considering his injury issues, can kreider keep up this pace, can breadman keep going in his 30's? Strike while the league has their pants down underestimating the rangers.
no, again, respectfully totally misguided
young affordable depth is worth more, which is proven by so many people wanting these type Rangers assets

Wait a minute what teams are you referring to when saying:

"I prefer NY roster to those rosters."

It was listed earlier, Carolina + 3 or so others, w/added mention of Wash + BOS.

Can we outlaw these ridiculous threads?
No, b'c freedom of speech. HOWEV, we have the right to insist on truthful representations, and when an OP strains credulity with such outrageous offers that should never be considered, then we have a right if not a duty to pummel his or her sorry ass for doing so in the first place.

Their potential is still crazy high and the rangers don’t need an add the size of what either would return. I’d rather move some combo of Chytil, Kravstov, Robertson and a pick for a more modest return

They are not busts yet as it’s too early to declare, but they are moving in that direction. Their trade value is still very high hence why Rangers can pick up integral parts for the cup run
Its seems Rangers picked up 2 Yakupovs but even Yakupov was more productive in his rookie year.

I mean, who do with think is the best player that Kakko or Lafreniere could even return? Not sure there is a sensible trade with either that vaults the Rangers into Cup contenders. Surely not one that makes any cap sense.

Who might these 4 teams be?
montreal, ottawa and buffalo for sure. devils maybe as well. :sarcasm:

just look at the standings. the two florida teams and carolina. for the fourth team you can choose between toronto or pitt/washington. depends on your preference of experience versus youth.

Rangers have cap space so Montreal eating Chiarot cap hit doesn’t help nor solves the 8 D they have been rolling with it this year.

Don't get me wrong--I don't think the Rangers should trade important young players to go all in this year at all (because too many players on the current roster have no postseason experience, and it's been a while even for those that do).

But.

Your "argument" here is a bit funny considering the Rangers would need to look behind them in the standings to see four of the six teams you just mentioned, and they are (at a quick glance) 5-3 against those six teams head-to-head (with at least one of those losses featuring Georgiev instead of Shesterkin). Against the two teams ahead of them (that you named), the Rangers are 3-1, with three of the games being 1-goal affairs and the only blowout (4-0, against the Lightning) belonging to NY. Again, I think this Rangers group needs a bit more seasoning, particularly in the playoffs, before they can be seen as true contenders, but "Scoreboard" isn't exactly the way to make that point.

By using the argument of "just look at the standings." I think several of those teams would likely beat the Rangers in a series due to their far superior playoff experience (an element that I see as an important predictor of playoff success), but I also think that it is likely that at least a couple of those teams will enter the playoffs as lower seeds than the Rangers.

one poster mentioned at least 3 probably 4 teams better than the rangers. another wanted to know the 4 teams. i mentioned 6 potential teams.

i have not made any statement, if i think the rangers should trade one, the other or both young players.

They should trade both in separate deals or at least one of them.

I gotta admit, Rangers have a good team with certain key pieces, mainly Fox, Panarin, and the goalie...there's a window open.

Laf and Kakko don't do anything...if you can upgrade on those two, could be scary.

Yeah Rangers have players in Hartford/Taxi Squad that play with more fire and purpose and more scoring chances than these 2.
