Would I make him a healthy scratch? Probably. In reality though, are the Rangers going to make him a healthy scratch? No way.

i think ppl are giving Richards WAY too much "credit" here. just like they did with Drury.

he's been pretty crappy for the vast majority of the season. in the playoffs i can count the number of positive impactful games hes had on one hand...for the most part, he does nothing out there positive. not defensively, not offensively, not on the PP, he doesnt PK, NOTHING.

Hes done.

Yea Richards was brought in to be ppg elite 1C. He's been awful at everything outside of the 2012 playoff run. People seem to love hating on Nash but kinda just let Richards slip buy with the occasional oh god what the **** he he doing on the ice posts in GDTs

Yes, that's clear--but we can't go back to last spring and show the "highlights" to Sather. The question is whether the team would be better off with Richards in the lineup tomorrow or not.

The only time I've ever been impressed with Brad was the first shift of his first preseason game vs Jersey.

He has not demonstrated any skillset as a New York Ranger. His go to move is to put his head down and fire shots aimlessly. People get on him for not orchestrating our PP and yes it would be nice if he was capable of that. But even worse is how lackadaisical he is in trying to defend on the PP. Disgraceful. Its so painful to hear the novice hockey fan talk about him as a star player on our team. He's our most dispensable player among all 12 forwards and 6 D.

Give the man some credit. He practically won the caps series in 2012 himself.

I've been as hard on Richards as anyone, but the problem here is pretty clear in my mind.

He's just shot. The amount of games has caught up to him.

He had a bounce back season for the most part, but he's clearly in decline, and the amount of games he played in and the minutes he's gotten in said games has done him in.

I can't rip on Richards for effort. He's clearly trying. His mistakes are a combination of physical and mental fatigue. That doesn't mean I want him on the ice, because I don't. But if it's true that he's basically our captain in everything but name, AV can't scratch him or slash his minutes all that much.

And let me be clear, I want him bought out this offseason. He's not worth the contract for the next 6 years, and the CBA has given us a clean out. But that doesn't mean he's dogging it on the ice, because he's not. He just can't do it anymore.

He can still be an effective player somewhere in the league, but probably not for a playoff team, and not getting anywhere near the minutes he got here.

Was he helpful, sure. But I think you're confusing Richards with Lundqvist, who in actuality, did win that series by himself.

Yup. His role is too pronounced to not notice that he is completely done as a player.

At least Mike Richards has an excuse - hes been a rugged player his entire career.

Whats Brad's excuse? He was never a speedster, but I was convinced his playmaking ability would prolong his career.

Nope.

I don't think he's scratch worthy tonight, but I would like to see him less on the power play and more Nash. Put McDonagh/Girardi and Moore/Stralman on the point.

you cant scratch him. no way.

hes not a 1 or 2 c anymore really especially on a skating team. but if he sits, we arent playing our best players and that would be a mistake. his play lately has been brutal.

hes likely done as an impact centerman in this league and if we lose tonight, this will be his last game in a rangers jersey.

Another thing to consider is that is he’s injured, they won’t be able to amnesty him

Scratch Beaver and play Carcillo.

On a serious note, no way they will scratch him. It might be his last game as a Ranger.
