Anyone think Miller and/or Carcillo need to be in the lineup for fresh legs??

At the expense of who, though. Carcillo for Dorsett, but Miller for???

Miller for Dorsett???

makes sense.

No, you need their energy.

Move Boyle to center and play both of them.

Out def. Richards
In def Miller

Out maybe Dorsett
In maybe Lindberg or Carcillo (looking for scoring)

I generally like your posts, but what would possibly possess AV to try Lindberg in game 5 of the Stanley Cup final, the kid would want to quit hockey when (not if, when) he makes a massive mistake against a LA team that will throw everything they got to close the series

Fair question, playing devil's advocate, bringing up worst case scenario.

Supposedly Lindberg has been playing with the tougher upper echelon men's unit division whatever of the Swedish (elite?) league.
So not as likely to have such a critical crunch over a short period of time based on his background.

Also, not asking him to play like Malkin vs. Kopitar.
Asking him to contribute on 4th line so we can repurpose D. Moore.

I repeat Miller for Richards, appearances be damned.
Dorsett -- in lieu of him, who would score?

No. Brad got the memo. He'll play better. He's had a Grade A scoring chance in all four Games and Quick made a super save on each one.

Just limit his minutes.

They aren't down 3-1 solely because of him, even though hes been pretty bad.

Most of those chances involved Richards not properly lifting the puck. And at this point I don't think his worn down body will allow him to play better, no matter how hard he tries.

You win or lose with the guys that got you there. Especially when the alternatives are barely NHL caliber players.

Richards is barely an NHL caliber player at this point. At least the other options can skate.

Carcillo is not a 'barely NHL caliber player'.

Normally I would not advocate Carcillo for Richards, but chances are we are going to be a tired team tonight, and some fresh legs could really help. At the moment Richards is skating the slowest and looks the tiredest out there, and Wednesday night, with Richards newly inserted on the fourth line, it was one of the first playoff games the fourth line did not have a good night.

We desperately need that line to play well tonight.

Spezza for Richards and a 3rd round pick.

Do it!

:sarcasm:

Besides the fact that the trade would never happen lets pretend it did

Spezza has a 7m cap hit and 1 year left on his contract.
thats .340m more then what Richards is already hitting us with.

We have to resign

Zuc who is going from 1m to probably 4.25m
Brassard who is going from 3.2m to probably 4 and some change
Kreider who is going from .8m To probably 1.8m
Boyle who is going from 1.7m to probably 2.2m
Pouliot who is going form 1.3m to probably 1.7m
Moore who is going from 1m to north of the 2m line
J Moore who is going from .8m to around 1.3m
and Stralman who is going from 1.7m to around 3m

The only option is to buy richards out or lose all depth.

Step stays 1st line center
Brass is 2nd line center
Moore becomes 3rd line center
Boyle 4rth line center
Dorrest stays on 4rth line and maybe also bring back Carcillo and he can play with Dorrest and Boyle.

I don't even know how to respond to this kind of overstatement.

Overstatement? Richards is clearly not able to keep up with the play at this point in the playoffs. He is dragging his line-mates down when he's on the ice and he's a liability in all 3 zones. Makes no difference to me if it's fatigue or just his skills diminishing.

To say that he's our best option and that the alternatives are barely NHL caliber players is an overstatement.

Richards is clearly an NHL player. Your statement was an overstatement. The problem is, he just isn't playing like a good one. He's been terrible.

I was one who wanted him gone last summer, but Sather made the right decision keeping him. It didn't end well for him, but Richie helped us get to this point. I can't imagine what Sather would have done if he did buy him out last summer, probably would have signed Stephen Weiss, puke.

Now he has to go this summer, but I'm fine with the decision to hang onto him for this year.

I expect the powerplay to improve massively just from not having him on it next year.

I won't go as far to say that Richards was bust as a NYR. I don't think he was. But there is one area he never lived up to and that is a PPQB. He was a total failure in that department.

Dear god that is horrifying.

Everyone should be praying that Brad Richards doesn't have an undisclosed injury. If he does and it requires surgery I believe we can't buy him out. Which would be catastrophic.

I agree he wasnt a wade redden type bust. his first year was pretty good. the problem is that sather gave him a 9 year deal when he was already in his 30's. I originally wnated richards but when i heard the deal was that long i cringed. However i hoped Richards would at least be good for 4-5 years of teh contract
