Perfectly said. As a historian, that is what scares me the most... people already having strong prejudices which clouds their judgement and makes them deaf to other possibilities.

The man was a convert. Its not as if people just convert on a whim. Whether he used his religion as part of his motivation in debatable but i think it is probable in this case. I dont believe terror organizations were claiming that the moncton shooter acted on there commands. Saying that i doubt he as much if any association with any terror organizations. Lots of terror group will claim suicide bombers act on there behalf just to raise their status.

There will be some idiots. Keep in mind, this is a white guy who shot Crp. Cirilo. If anyone is targeting someone by race than we should act accordingly and charge them with hate crimes.

Yeah, it seems a like a long time now not to know if more people are involved or not.

The only thing I hear on CBC Radio still being reported regularly, is that there are still reports of a second person exiting a vehicle and moving away from Parliament Hill this morning.

And that's the part that's never been fully confirmed/denied.

The alleged shooting at Rideau never took place by all accounts from authorities. There was only one shooter involved today. He shot Cirilo at the war memorial then drove his car a short distance up Wellington and parked outside East block, walked up to the Centre Block and opened fire once inside where he was killed by Srgt at arms Vickers and his staff.

There's no indication of any other shooters, but police and RCMP are searching much of the downtown core and clearing them from lock down. It's also important to note that most of Parliament and the War Memorial are a crime scene right now.

The security level has been raised on the Hill over the past few days so it seems they had perhaps expected something and now are taking lots of precautions. Who knows what kind of threats they've received so anything given the current situation need to be taken very seriously.

Harper's address has me more uneasy than the actually events of today tbh. I hope he doesn't use this opportunity to further expand the powers of government and the PMO. We don't need our own version of the Patriot Act in Canada.
