Sharks website has an updated roster with 17 forwards. I don't think there is any way that McLaren makes the team. Goldobin has been skating with the 4th liners. I think it would be better for his development to play 1st line minutes in the AHL rather than play on the 4th line with the Sharks.

That's it for easy cuts left. If Melker and Raffi are healthy, the cut to 14 (and maybe even 13) are tough.

If no one on IR, then its going to be very hard for Goodrow to make the team. It would be great if Brown somehow leaves as well. Can his money get buried in the AHL? I forget the salary cap rules on that point.

250k will be left on the cap, but if it's best for the team, it would be worth it.

Lost in the SW!
i am not surprised at the moves, was just thinking another round of cuts coming... some thoughts
- M. Karlson still not cleared for full camp action, i'd look for him to go on IR at seasons start
- I will be interested to see what happens with forwards as we have lots of depth, guys like Brown/Torres as vets with NHL deals vs. young guys that are better players perhaps...

I was seriously resigning myself to a Mclaren-smith-brown line.

Now I can at least hope brown will be a 13th forward.

I think that it'd probably be best if Hertl and Tierney both play on the 3rd line and both play center. Like switch off every 3 games or something.

I'm thinking Goldobin, Goodrow and Mueller will be the final three cuts from the roster.

With Donskoi seemingly the frontrunner for that LW spot on the top line, and Hertl seeing so much ice time at center, I see the lines shaking out like this to start the season:

Donskoi - Thornton - Pavelski
Marleau - Couture - Ward
Nieto - Hertl - Wingels
Karlsson/Torres - Tierney - Smith
Brown

Wouldn't shock me if one of Torres or Karlsson started the year on IR.

DeBoer tomorrow: "We're going to try out Brown on the 1st line . I think he's got what it takes."

And then in a completely unrelated gesture, DW hands him what DeBoer insists is his laundry, even though the sack has a big dollar sign on the side.
