Prospect Info: Sharks Prospect Info & Discussion Thread XX

Cagnoni could be our future Girard, he'll help make that PP2 dangerous. Also with a defensively sound right defencemen, I can see a balanced 5v5. Excited to see where he lands by the end of the day.
Girard makes sense as a potential ceiling for Cagnoni. There's no way he's going to be Dan Boyle.

If we can line up Buium, Shak and Cagnoni down our left side in a few years and they develop as expected I think we can get away with less than stellar RDs.

As mentioned 100x in the last few months, we could be adding 2 of Silayev, Levshunov, Buium, Parekh, Jiricek, Yakemchuk this year.

If that's the case we'd have a dynamic defensive pipeline moving forward.

All in on defence would be the wisest route since we have more depth in offensive pool already. (Celebrini is an exception, because he would be our 1C)

I have a good feeling MG knows it and will do his best, only thing I'm worried about is development. But with this new management I feel like everything is possible.

BPA, BPA, BPA. If the stars align and we pick Celebrini 1OA then Lindstrom or Demidov is somehow still available at the Penguins pick we should probably take that forward instead of a defenseman.
Those 2 are not going to be available even at 11...outside shot of Eiserman, and if he's there, you take him. Musty-Celebrini-Eklund, Eiserman-Smith whoever would be so much fun to watch.

It's unlikely but Sportsnet released rankings today that have Lindstrom 12th and Eiserman 13th
Interesting, I think Grier trades up for Eiserman (Boston connection strikes again) if he falls to the 11-13 range. Then you trade Hertl + a 2nd round pick for Goodrow + Perrault and roll a top-6 of Eiserman-Celebrini-Eklund, Musty-Smith-Perrault in 2025-2026. Nice to dream eh....

That would be a wild lineup.

I don't see why we would add to Hertl to get Perrault while also taking a boat anchor in Goodrow. Just sayin

It’s a great top 6 but this team eventually needs to find some legit D prospects. Right now it is Muk and a bunch of bottom pairing guys.

I agree the Sharks are still in asset accumulation mode and need the best assets available. The forward assets can be traded for D if needed.

Luckily it looks like the BPA will most likely be a D for the pens pick unless one of lindstrom, eiserman, or Demidov drop. I don’t know if I would take anyone else at 10-14 over the D prospects.

All good points, and I think if they miss out on Macklin, the Sharks should take 2 defensemen (such as Levshunov and Jiricek) to start building that defensemen group given how solid the draft is at the top for D prospects

He fired a slapper into an empty net and then was not the last guy off the ice after warmups.

Clearly not pro material. :sarcasm:

Seriously, puck drop isn't for another 20 minutes.
Everything you need to know about a player can be learned during warmups, by looking at his poise, whether he has a scout's body, and is he a good old Massachusetts or Saskatchewan farm boy.

On the off chance that anyone ends up watching this game via CHL live, keep an eye out for #19 on Vancouver, Cameron Schmidt. He's tiny but is super skilled and fun to watch. And is just 16 so he's not draft eligible until 2025.

Also if you are watching and see a sharks jersey along the bottom of the screen just inside the right-hand offensive zone, that's me :D

He's from Burnaby, bc. It's a suburb of Vancouver.

Pros: home of Joe Sakic, Michael J Fox, Cliff Ronning, Glenn Anderson, Christine Sinclair, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Michael Buble.

Cons: home of EA's canadian campus and thus is associated with EA. Home of Jason LaBarbera, Gregor Zanon, and Karl Alzner.

So jury's out on if it's points in his favor or not.

Cagnoni to the box for cross checking a guy face first into the boards. Awesome

Edit: and it led to a goal against.

Edit 2: maybe. It's being reviewed.

Edit 3: it's a goal. Yay (cause I'm a Giants fan) but also boo (cagnoni is responsible for this)

1-0 Vancouver after 1 period.

When cagnoni was on the ice I thought he skated well and saw the ice well to make plays and get shots off. Not a big, hard shooter but finds holes and gets it on net.

But he took a pair of reckless penalties and is very clearly not a physical presence along the boards. He was losing battles against Giants forward Ty Halaburda who's an undrafted 18 year old that's 5'10 at best and not stocky.

So it was an alright period but there wasn't nearly enough good to come away strongly positive after 2 penalties.
