They get offended that our 4th overall pick is ranked 4 spots above their 23rd overall pick. The difference in their scoring is literally only 2 points.

Drouin had 30(!) more points than MacKinnon in five more games in their draft season. Same team. Drouin also had a more productive playoffs for Halifax. Imagine assessing prospects at that surface of a level.

It's not like Will Smith is Nathan MacKinnon, but he plays down the middle, is bigger/stronger/faster and has a superior track record.

Gabe should have been drafted closer to 10 than 20, but Smith is a top prospect in his own right. Like we heard, Columbus was set on taking him at 3 until Anaheim reversed the deck (for better or for worse...)
