As for the game..the Sharks played well. Responded to the nonsense. Still got sloppy with the puck but they were competing and won a hard game against a good team.

Ya. I'm just not gonna hold my breath. It seems the only awards West coast guys win is non-objective awards like Art Ross or Rocket Richard.

And Crosby, Malkin and Stamkos, along with weaker defense/goaltending are in the east so that's out of the question

Hopefully Nemo is a Vezina candidate if he can keep up this stellar play, and I see no reason he can't. He was pretty good the last two games, but you gotta admit that he's sitting behind a pretty good defense now.

Perry won the Hart a few years ago (yuck)

Niemi should be a Vezina finalist if he keeps this up. Will he? I don't know. It seems like a lot of voters look at wins, and the Sharks don't have a lot relatively speaking.

Isn't Niemi like 2nd in the league in wins? I vaguely remember Randy/Drew mentioning that at the beginning of tonight's game

I got laughed at in the trade forums for even suggesting that he was Vezina-caliber. Just like I got laughed at for suggesting that Clowe wasn't a 4th line grinder. Sigh.

If they do look at wins, that's truly a shame. I don't think that tells us who's the best goalie.

I don't wanna play the Wild in the 1st round. It would be a bloodbath. Are there any soft teams we can play where we might get out of the 1st round w/o half our team on IR? I think the softest team is actually the Hawks but we don't wanna play them either...

Back to the game analysis. Best thing about this win streak is the TOI distribution across the boards. Forwards and defense.

Lack of PKs is part of it but nonetheless, should pay dividends down the road. What a Jeckyl and Hyde season.

Great point. Fourth line got 10+ minutes, D-men ranged from 15:06 (Tennyson) to just 21:43 (Boyle).

Vancouver is fairly soft compared to the rest of the West too, but even they have some scrappy players.

You just know Torres would steamroll Bieksa into oblivion.

Niemi is actually up there in wins because he plays more than just about any other goalie

Tied for 2nd with Price and Fleury. Tied for 4th going into the night in save percentage. 5th in GAA going into tonight. Both the numbers got better that went into the night. Niemi and Crawford are the only goalies in the top five for both categories with more than 20 games. If he maintains this pace, he's easily a Vezina finalist.
