Wow, I never thought Vlasic could be such a bully. He just punked Heater to the ice.

I place more blame on Heater though. He knows he should get knocked on the ice near the net. He overreacted by slashing Vlasic.

I don't agree with the system bit from the radio postgame. The defensive coverage has evolved a ton over the last few years, especially on the PK. The offensive style of the team isn't even the same as it was for most of the season! They play a lot more transition offense now when before they would almost exclusively chip and try to cycle.

Well maybe the plan was never to chip, but people just weren't "getting there" to pass to.

Who ever mentioned it earlier was right on. The wild tried to test the sharks toughness after trading Murry and Clowe. The sharks responded nicely. Burish played better again tonight.

Clowe and Murray are toughguys but usually the goon stuff is from guys like Thornton and Vlasic.

Anyone want to fill me in on Vlasic's hulkmode 15PIM as the game ended? Just the slash on Heatley, or...?

I'm thinking so. This whole thing stemmed from the first scrum that the refs failed to do their job and call these two for the extra stuff...even though it was a troll job by Galiardi. lol

Pickles cross-checks Heater down in front and gives him a stick slap on the butt, Heater turns and takes a big whiff at Vlasic's wrists, and Vlasic responds without missing. Heater, even after the hack that hit, still went after Vlasic and then fell and Pickles rag-dolled him.

Yeah but he missed. But you know why?

"Dany Heatley is a lousy baseball player..."

:biglaugh:

That's sad to see Heatley injured though, and if he really is gonna be out for a long time, then that seriously sucks. I hope that he's okay and returns soon. Obviously have a lot of respect for him for his hard play in San Jose and him being a great teammate.

With that said, I don't think anybody is actually celebrating Heatley's injury, but more so that Vlasic has finally stepped up and become a tougher player who won't be pushed around.

Okay, so the real fall wasn't the one in the gif. Heater got up after that and seemed fine, then Vlasic shoved him down again and he fell funny on his wrists. I think that's what did it.

On the postgame, they said something about the 5 min major for slashing carrying an automatic 10 min misconduct. However, the box score says 10 min for head butting...

EDIT: ... on Yahoo. The NHL.com boxscore has it as a 10 min game misconduct.

Too bad none of the voters know it. They all think he's having an average season like Roenick for example. He might be lucky to be top 5 in the Vezina voting.

Niemi is #1 among goalies in GVT (Hockey Prospectus' main stat). I don't know what it stands for, but I know the higher it is, the better. Niemi's is 20.2. Craig Anderson is at 20.1 despite his injury.

WTF is Vlasic doing,

Cross checking him is one thing slashing him after he's down is just dirty. Didn't like that at all.

Then he inadvertently hurts his arm after they take some shots.

Just stupid and I hope Heatley gets back soon, even if everyone dislikes the guy.

The first slap after the cross-check was nothing, just a whack on the side. I think the two-handed swing by Heatley in return is what set off Vlasic, the only difference being Vlasic didn't whiff on his slash.

Yeah, it looks like he fell on top of his hand on the last drop Heater had.

April 18th is gonna suck for Minny when we have the full troll line going and this team is just flat out not taking any **** from anyone. Maybe Clowe and Murray left those lasting impressions but this whole team has some serious gutz.

Dat grit. Now we add nasty Raffi and we're total thugs. Look out if you wanna flex on the Sharks.

Torres-Desi-Burish troll line, Captain Trollton, Galiardi shooting **** eating grins, Vlasic acting like an MC enforcer and Sheppard running people over? Sounds like fun for this team.

It stands for 'Games Versus Threshold", and it's basically a most valuable player metric. Impressive, to say the least.

Also, I have lost a little respect for Vlasic. Feisty Pickles is one thing, Dirty Pickles is another.
