One thing often forgotten - “bottom feeders” are the ones that are to watch out after the trade deadline

Unpredictable and not easy “write off” games

Any year we were out of the playoff hunt under Maurice you could always count on his teams to destroy the llves of Tank nation by getting on some predictable heater in the last 10 games to make sure we weren’t drafting in the top 8.

I wouldn't call what they ask Scheifele to do is bumper. His shooting position is lower and wider than Connor's, but that is what he is asked to do. I just checked the PP heat maps and there is a secondary heat area where Scheifele shots from. Actually is just more effecient with his shots. The primary heat area is Connor, but it is also any other player opposite to Morrisey who slides into that position as he QBs from the left point.

Now go look at Mark's individual shot map. He individually is shooting much more from the slot. The secondary heat map is boosted predominantly by Fly and Perfetti on the second unit.

Stars coaching sucks this season according to some important fans. I was out at a game last week and they were non stop complaning about Pete’s brain dead choices on their PP1 but mostly how he constantly trots out the wrong vet players 3v3 and how Benn has been on the ice for 8 goals against in OT this season because he seems gassed….but hell no Pete just keep rolling the exact same group out and lets set a record for how many times we can lose in OT this season…………..

Just to finish it off that is the division leader and it was guys that were important fans………If you are looking for a “fans are happy with the coaching space” I really think it doesn’t exist on HFBoards.

So many of these old school coaches have the exact same blind spots.

Can you imagine if any Jets D man ever skated back that slow our board (Me included) would lose their minds. Instead of watching Barron just watch Eric the great on that effort as last man back.

Yikes

I have no idea why he's getting any consideration for the Norris. He's having a Mike Green all offense no defense year. His lack of give a shit on his end yesterday was very apparent. He shouldn't be in the running imo.

I wasn't even mad. More like almost expected, once they stopped all preassure and just started trying collapsing to the lanes and giving them the shooting gallery you just feel like they were going to score eventually.

- A goalie who can't cover the puck with his glove

= A forward who goes for the empty net because that how he gets a lot of his goals. All he had to do was flip it out of the zone and it would have killed the clock.

- 0 for 6 on the PP

equals a loss to the Sharks.

And to add... I can't wait for the day we trade PLD. At this point he is just taking up a roster spot.

Me and a buddy sat 1 late nite and draw up this plan.
Sell PLD at the draft to the highest bidder, dont care who

Looking at Tampas Capfriendly page, I have no clue how they gonna keep Ciarelli (knowing Tampa Stamkos breaks a pubhair and is ltir next season) use the asset and go for Ciarelli, probobly need to add.
Doubt Tampa sells him to an easten team, so I think Jets, Dallas would be the frontrunners.

I can atleast dream...

and dont forget..

He might be shooting from different places as he was positioned in the slot for awhile and he shot from there as well. My point stays the same. He is asked to be a shooter not a QB. The same as Connor. Morrissey is the QB always and on every PP. Morrissey is 3rd in the league with PP assists with 24 because everything goes through him while everyone else is pretty much stationary. It’s fine not to like the design I don’t really either but that is the coach’s design and the players are doing what has been designed.

PP points

Scheifele 10G 7A 17P
Morrissey 2G 24A 26P

Tampa always seems to find a way to keep their key players. My guess is they move Killorn out to make whatever room they need.

would the game have gone into ot with out the 1st goal? no it would have been a 2-1 final...
Would the game gone to OT without the puck deflecting off Wheeler's stick right to Hertl with 10 seconds left? No, it would be a 2-1 final.

That's hockey, shit happens. Hellebuyck has let plenty of bad goals in. Players are not robots. Overall Rittich has been a very capable backup and is outperforming his modest contract.

If you want to 'pin' it on something, look to the powerplay. 0-6 for this group is ridiculous, especially considering the lack of good chances they had on most pps, and that's even with taking Wheeler off the pp.

No help from Dallas to keep the Flames out. Pucker up, team. It's going to be a wild ride.
I'm not even worried about the Flames, the Preds are the team that has me clenching.

The Jets going from first place in January to out of the playoffs would be a catastrophic fall that should signal a huge change for this organization

I guess it's just default for some people to hate scheifele now
Yeah I think he's been playing much better the past few games, getting back to his early season play.

Yup, nothing wrong with Scheifele's play outside needlessly extending his OT shift. I'd like to see him look to shoot a bit more though.

Dubois has had a great season and is obviously been hurt the past few.

We sure love to shit on our players

24g 31a 55pts in 61gp - just taking up a roster spot.

Before this past spell, he was trending for nearly ppg and 40 goals.

Please give me more of these players that are just 'taking up roster spots'

Dubois was great for most of the year, but he hasn't done alot for a while now. If it's because of injury we should rest him until he's a little better .

Well, he was out for a couple of games, it's unrealistic to expect a player to come back and immediately dominate. I don't know what his injury is so not sure if it's one of those nagging things that won't fully heal until he gets substantial rest. The Jets can ill afford to have key players out for several games.

Our PP has really become very dependent on Morrissey. There are some PPs he gets every 2nd touch. Agreed, having more down low options might open up more seems. But I can see the attraction of going through Morrissey as he has been so dominant, and I think it allows for good possession, but less actual scoring opportunities. Saying that assist wise Morrissey laps the field with 24 PP apples, so maybe only tweaks are needed to create more grade A chances.
Honestly from just a hockey fans point of view i think both Scheifele and Connor are set up too close to the boards, they should move in a bit . We have too much talent to be going 0 for 6 on the PP , i hope the coaches try something different soon.

Painful game to be at for sure.

Lot's of blame to go around. From BSD not being able to puck his glove on a puck, to Wheeler making a selfish ENG attempt.

The story IMO though is the inept PP. It's so predictable it's ridiculous. They play pretty stationary and just try and force cross seam passes. And when that doesn't work, they don't pivot to anything else. No pass down low for a quick one touch to the bumper for a shot, no shifting around, and certainly no willingness to drive the lane, take shots, and battle in front of the net for tips and rebounds.

SHOOT THE MOTHER f***ING PUCK! I guarantee if you rotate the PP a bit and pull the guys on the hash marks up and start firing the puck from the point, you are going to get screen goals, tip ins and rebounds. Now, the PK has to respect the point shot and it pulls the PK apart, which opens up the seams and better 1T passes.

Right now, PK's know they can just sit in their tight box and push the Jets against the wall and they're golden.

Painful game to be at for sure.

Those things too! What happened to that aggressive walk to the net front from the side? or that bumper pass from that area? You need to be able to have several plays at your disposal and use them all - otherwise the PK can just sit back and protect the middle of the ice.

ya when you watch good team's PPs it makes our look slow as molases. Even the zone entries are extremely slow. The only time we ever got setup was when Ehlers carried it full speed and dropped it to our D inside the line or dumped it. Somehow KFC has no speed anymore either.
