ya when you watch good team's PPs it makes our look slow as molases. Even the zone entries are extremely slow. The only time we ever got setup was when Ehlers carried it full speed and dropped it to our D inside the line or dumped it. Somehow KFC has no speed anymore either.
I thought that Scheifele and Connor had some decent entries. Overall I think we struggle with getting the puck in the zone way less. It's what we do when we get set up that's maddening.

I find it interesting that the Jets have the 2nd best PK in the NHL, yet a middle of the road PP ( 17th ).

You would think knowing what makes a good PK would help them to figure out what would make a good PP....IE; what would you do to get past the Jets PK?

Honestly from just a hockey fans point of view i think both Scheifele and Connor are set up too close to the boards, they should move in a bit . We have too much talent to be going 0 for 6 on the PP , i hope the coaches try something different soon.
I don't like our PP set up and you are right. Right now the only player in motion on our #1 PP in Morrissey and everything feeds through him. Everything on the left and everything on the right goes back to him and he distributes to the other side. Our PP is great if the goal was to play keep away as we could move it around the outside all day long. IMO at least the design is intended to shoot more and get in front for deflections and rebounds, but our players tend to want to do pretty seem passes that the PP is not designed for. So the end result is around and around the perimeter the puck goes.

It seems this coaching staff is the opposite of the last from a special teams perspective. Maurice was good most of his tenure here with the pp but couldn't coach a PK to save his life.

Tampa always seems to find a way to keep their key players. My guess is they move Killorn out to make whatever room they need.
Killorn is UFA, Sergashev, Ciarelli and Cernak extension kicks in, Jeanout and Colton and a backup need contracts... We did not get this working, but as we all know, they will fix it :/

Good catch. Still they are at $74 million with about 7 to 8 players to sign. They likely go league minimum with most of those and will be fine.

As much as I’m trying to be optimistic I just can’t see this team making the playoffs. We finally have a chance to get on a little bit of a turnaround here and we lose to a tire fire team and it only gets more difficult from here. I honestly would not be surprised if Calgary and preds passed us. preds could give away more players in the still keep generating points well we are completely healthy and we can’t even beat a bottom feeder.
It's rather easy to see this team making the playoffs. It would take an epic meltdown to lose a 6 point lead with 18 games left.

It's exceedingly difficult for teams to make up points this late in the season. You really think the Flames or Panthers are going to make up seven or eight points with 19 games remaining? Maybe if the Jets continue to win two of their next 10 games. That's entirely possible. Unlikely, but possible.
Check out the Predators. All they have to do is win their games in hand and they have us

I'm not sure a team with Matt Duchene as their number 1 C is likely to win 3 games in hand but the Jets are certainly making it interesting.

Have you seen the effort our guys have been putting in? Those in glass houses shall not be casting stones

Did I say it was? I simply stated a fact

Yeah but even if they win their 3 in regulation we'd still hold the tie break with more regulation wins.

An awful lot would need to go right for them and continue to go wrong for us.

Imo we look to be playing our way out of the slump.

The Jets are 6 pts behind Dallas.. if the Jets still had 3 games in hand would you say they were likely to catch them?
Yes you are correct. But based on the way they have been playing and with who they play coming up that is unlikely. Of course I really hope they can turn it around and do well, but we just lost to San Jose at home on top of the last two months.

I really do hope your correct. 30 years of mw being a Jets fan has conditioned me to feel otherwise though.

I thought our PP was mainly in the top 10 when we had prime Wheeler feeding Laine, and it suffered when Laine got traded, but I don't have the stats to back that up. It was pretty much "get the puck to our best shooter". My memory could be off, though.

They have looked better lately. Better against Edmonton on Saturday I think and certainly better yesterday.

That is correct. But he still managed to optimize the pieces he had for the most part.
