Us fans we don't really know what's really going on behind close doors, I'm sure PD knew about this a while a go and that's why there was no deal. Now we can move on, Pinto will serve his suspension and then he will be back with the team. It's not the end of the world. He's a young man, we all make mistake.

I'm not sure how this will work out?

Pinto can't sign a contract until Jan.1 based on something I just read.

They would still need enough cap space on Jan. 1 to get him under contract and fit him in. This assumes the Senators still want him in the lineup for the 2nd half of the season.

Does anybody know how much would be available at that point to sign Pinto? I checked CapFriendly. It doesn't look its been updated.

a young(ish) player, He is 22, will be 23 in a few days

played 99 games... 99. Stutzle is a year and 2 months younger and has 216!!!!!

missed a season in 21/22.. will miss 3/4 of a season in 23/24

not exactly healthy for his development.. which at 23 is pretty much over.

f*** where this team was in 2021/2022 and were it seems to be heading. They should be torching the league

Norris; 24 has 136 games

UGGHH.. This bucket full of 20-22 year olds in 2021/2022 should be killers now.

You alright man?

What a reach. There has already been reports of what they offered and Garrioch just said they rescinded all the previous offers. Garrioch is Dorions mouth piece. There is absolutely no chance that Dorion planned this on any level. He doesnt plan anything. Theres a paper trail to prove it.

Seems like NHL might have evidence he was connected (feeding information?) to a third-party proxy bettor who was likely betting NHL games, based on the Seravalli tweet.

So we have to sign him by Dec 1st with no cap space, and he still won't be able to return

What a mess

Well, what we don't know is when the sens found out. Maybe they signed Tarasenko because they knew this was coming?

In his article Garrioch explained the Sens and Pinto were very close to an extension and the Sens were working on clearing cap to make it happen, then they were advised by the league to not sign him until the investigation was over.

This wasn't 4D chess. This was Pinto doing something dumb and unintentionally bailing us out.

How did they even find this out?

Also someone needs to bump that thread and reset the counter. I was wondering what was taking so long between Senators controversies.
You have to validate your account using a piece of ID. At least i know i did. Pretty sure sports leagues work with gambling websites to monitor player activity

I want to know what be bet on. I also want to clarify something I see a lot of posts about betting ads and the NHL. The NHL isn't the one shoving betting ads down your throat its Doug Ford and his moronic Ontario gambling deal that is shoving betting ads down your throat.

I am sure in "legalized" states you see a ton of ads as well but it's not the league it's where you live. Ontario made some stupid gambling legislation that banned Ontario residents from global online poker pools, banned Ontario resident from global DFS pools. You could always use any online betting site before nothing changed in that regard. The only thing that changed is the Ontario government made these sites pay them and allowed them to advertise.

How is the team bailed out? He isnt playing 41 or more games.

more we don't know
Agreed.

Even in the event that Dorion didn't know, he may have had a trade or a split contract arrangement that promised to resolve the issue prior to finding out about the investigation. It's possible this would have been sorted out before the end of camp had the investigation not happened, so I'll eat some crow for being as critical of Dorion as I was, that doesn't mean there's no room for criticism, but I do think there's some of this that was likely out of his hands, the extent of which we may never know.
