Guy,

we needed this like a tooth ache.

Everyone is laughing now and we are joking, but.. Another young, reasonable earning, line 2, line 3 player may be lost.

how the bleep do people expect us to come out of this?

2015: White
2016: Brown
2017: Formenton
2018: JBD
2019: Thomson and Pinto

6 players, 4 forwards, 2 D.. all lost.. All could have been at the heart of this team. And no need for FAs and no salary cap issues.

we cannot just continue to throw away players/picks. It will derail the rebuild.
If it was just something like betting football on team property or using an offshore broker, he'll be back by game 50 and this will be forgotten.

Yeah, Friedman says it was recent, just the last few weeks really where the NHL stepped in and told them to halt negotiations as it was clear there would be some sort of discipline.

I don’t think this absolves Dorion of the cap trouble he got us into.
Yeah I mean we are still unable to call up players. Kinda

From the Athletic ...

As a 10.2(c) RFA, Pinto has very limited rights in free agency but does not need to be under contract by Dec. 1 in order to be eligible to play during the 2023-24 season, as Group 2 RFAs do.

There's the answer on why he can sign later than Dec 1

Guys, this is kind of good news though.

He'll barely serve his time, which has already started. He'll now sign because he's lost all leverage and his next contract likely loses leverage as well as he has to make up for his dirty name.
It's only sports gambling, can easily be addressed by the team and league.

Cap crisis averted!
I'm not sure how this will work out?

Pinto can't sign a contract until Jan.1 based on something I just read.

They would still need enough cap space on Jan. 1 to get him under contract and fit him in. This assumes the Senators still want him in the lineup for the 2nd half of the season.

Does anybody know how much would be available at that point to sign Pinto? I checked CapFriendly. It doesn't look its been updated.

It sounds like Pinto just bailed us out because of his own stupidity.

Not sure if he holds out for an similar contract to what they had essentially agreed upon prior to this happening, or admits he ****ed up and signs a cheap 1 year deal and spends time in the AHL waiting for his suspension to run out.

Has anyone gone to the vault to find the thread about days without a Sens incident?

The silver lining is that we have had Greig filling Pinto’s vacancy and running with it. His line is has been the most consistent, providing offence without sacrificing defence.

As long as the rest of the lines click, we should be ok to compete every night.

Pinto becomes our pre-TDL acquisition to kick some eastern conference butts.

Please win against NYI.

How did they even find this out?

Also someone needs to bump that thread and reset the counter. I was wondering what was taking so long between Senators controversies.
Could the same source as the Troy Mann info getting to Claire Hanna

Theory: Pinto didn't bet on "NHL games". Doesn't preclude that he could've bet on props though right? MVP, Vezina, President's trophy, etc.

a young(ish) player, He is 22, will be 23 in a few days

played 99 games... 99. Stutzle is a year and 2 months younger and has 216!!!!!

missed a season in 21/22.. will miss 3/4 of a season in 23/24

not exactly healthy for his development.. which at 23 is pretty much over.

f*** where this team was in 2021/2022 and were it seems to be heading. They should be torching the league

Norris; 24 has 136 games

UGGHH.. This bucket full of 20-22 year olds in 2021/2022 should be killers now.

Ok, well, I guess I'll eat some crow and say Dorion probably didn't screw up and us in this cap mess and not leave enough room for Pinto, he likely knew something was coming ....
Pinto or no Pinto the cap space issue prevails wrt how tight they are

Or maybe the NHL suspects he bet on games, but only has proof that he made some sort of bet through finances but not on NHL games? I dunno

Frankly I’m glad there is clarity now.
We know where things stand and can move forward without this hanging over…
We’ll get him back later this year, he’ll be in game shape by the stretch run and bolster the team.

We are good enough to win without him, and will be that much better with him.
