What a weird turn of events.

If he wasn't gambling on hockey I'm not sure what the problem is.

I wonder if by other "sports" they meant other leagues.

If Pinto was betting on (or god forbid against) the B-Sens to win, could that be suspendable?

this is a bad day folks.. we all need to be very f***ing upset at Pinto

In 12 months now, we have lost: Formenton, Pinto and Norris may not be the same.

At the same time: Giroux is not exactly flying up and down the ice as he did last year. Tarasenko does not appear to be Tarasenko of a few years ago.

the team has cap issues.

and we are not yet out of the rebuild.. in fact, we have only passed the 0.500 once, last year. And in a league that offers a point for an OTL.

Un-f***ing real.

Can you guys say Vancouver, or Buffalo... our two goalies have a 0.872 Save Percentage.

One more anchor around our necks.

It gets cloudy everywhere, but it only rains here.

Look this gets Dorion off the hook here but I’m not entirely sure it’s not blind luck. On Sept 14th he was still talking like Pinto would be in camp.

Sure he could have been just saying all the right things etc. I’m not so sure lol

Lots of NFLers have been suspended for betting on other sports in their team facilities. They’re fine if they’re betting offsite.

Oh yeah this rebuild is nearing disaster. In two years we won’t have tarasenko or giroux. And batherson isn’t exactly out of the woods on 2018 WJc yet lol.

Dorion has been saying all the same things about Formenton. He's made no comments whatsoever linking Formenton to the HC investigation.

Guys, this is kind of good news though.

He'll barely serve his time, which has already started. He'll now sign because he's lost all leverage and his next contract likely loses leverage as well as he has to make up for his dirty name.
It's only sports gambling, can easily be addressed by the team and league.

Cap crisis averted!

Dorion has balls of steal, is a chess master.

Sucks that we start the year without a core player again tho but I agree for the most part we don’t have to lose anyone and if this team can stay in the mix till pinto joints it’s a nice booster move

Guy,

we needed this like a tooth ache.

Everyone is laughing now and we are joking, but.. Another young, reasonable earning, line 2, line 3 player may be lost.

how the bleep do people expect us to come out of this?

2015: White
2016: Brown
2017: Formenton
2018: JBD
2019: Thomson and Pinto

6 players, 4 forwards, 2 D.. all lost.. All could have been at the heart of this team. And no need for FAs and no salary cap issues.

we cannot just continue to throw away players/picks. It will derail the rebuild.

So it seems the league knew in the summer and the investigation ramped up in the fall

If the league knew, i think we can be certain the team knew

But it's a bit of a cloud hanging over your head. You move guys out to sign Pinto andcthen he's suspended. Your doubly screwed.

Kinda looks to me like Dorion might not be as dumb as some here think he is and that the tweet from two weeks ago about trades in place but Pinto not signing had some legs

so for rhe capologists, i we sign him to say a 750k contract for 41 games....what's the cap hit? 750 or 1 5?

Yeah, Friedman says it was recent, just the last few weeks really where the NHL stepped in and told them to halt negotiations as it was clear there would be some sort of discipline.

I don’t think this absolves Dorion of the cap trouble he got us into.

Not the Pinto headline I expected to see. We'll just have to learn the facts to know what it means for his future in Ottawa. Preliminarily, if it's only 41 games, it's probably not something truly nefarious, and perhaps he's back in the lineup eventually at a lower cost with a chip on his shoulder.
