Suspension already started, as he doesn't need a contract

He still needs to sign with Ottawa before the RFA signing deadline.

There are still possible cap implications that would make signing later more difficult.

Sitting out the rest of the season doesn't make much sense. Especially since Pinto is a 10.2(c) RFA. A 1 year contract gets him 1 year closer to arbitration and also allows his agent to possibly sign with teams other than Ottawa next year. If he doesn't play this year, he cannot sign an offer sheet, which gives him less leverage.

Unless he decides to go and play overseas, where he might make more than he would in the NHL due to taxes, escrow, and missing 41+ games. As per Friedman, despite being unsigned, his suspension already started retroactively from game 1. So I assume even if he signs in a different league, he would burn off the 41 game suspension while playing somewhere else.

Bro must've bet on dog fighting or something

Bizarre. Betting on any other sport isn't against the rules. I'm very curious about the impropriety.

"The NHL uncovered that Pinto placed a large sum on the Chargers to cover against the Chiefs, and knowing that the Chargers are the most epic chokers in all sports, couldn't stand by such a bet. They had to act."

They might have told him: See you back in September, get back healthy and we'll giving you a signing bonus

College hockey makes most sense. He still would have close ties in those circles.

How did they even find this out?

Also someone needs to bump that thread and reset the counter. I was wondering what was taking so long between Senators controversies.
