Only on hf is a player who just scored 85 points this season a "50 point guy" and a player with 8 points in 17 career games a "locked-in 50+ point 2 way beast."

Unreal.

To be fair, no where in his post, or any subsequent one in this thread, did he label Fiala as such. I understand what you are saying though, there have been a few (including the OP who is the one seeking Fiala in his proposal) that have suggested it.

Pinto has already sniffed the NHL so I'm not sure what your point is.
One goal in 17 games. That’s doesn’t scream star level. Why would you trade your 25 yrs old star for such guy? Pinto’s upside may not even be Fiala today

I write this with biasd as a Sens fan. It would hurt to lose Pinto for Fiala. This is why I think it would be a fair deal. Pinto in gonna be agood one. Hockey IQ is very high. I personally wouldn't do this trade.
Not sure how much better Rossi is than Pinto. Rossi looks to be a better scorer but I am not convinvced he is better overall

Yeah, that was a pretty annoying response when my post goes out of its way to say that I'm not defending the trade proposal or discounting Fiala, merely commenting on Pinto.

While letting the point wooosh over your head lol

Not sure why you’re picking a fight with me over something someone else posted.

Fiala’s a good player. There’s a reason he’s at the top of the list of targets most Sens fans are looking at.

What’s funny is that the posts on your own board about Pinto are pretty positive. He’s probably the closest thing to a sure thing in our system which is why some Sens fans are loathe to part with him.

He’ll also be cost controlled for awhile.

I also understand the skepticism based on the small sample size.

But I don’t get why everyone has to puff out their chest on the trade board for whatever reason.

Blows my mind that Sens fans say "IM NOT GIVING UP PINTO FOR FIALA".
You won't give up a PROSPECT for a 85pt player? Crazy.
It's going to cost Pinto++
If the trade is Pinto for Fiala, that's a no brainer for Ottawa.

The comment about Fiala being a dime a dozen is completely inaccurate and severely misrepresents who he is as a player. Wild fans, I'm sorry you had to read that about a player who has played at a high level for your team over the past few years. I always thought Fiala showed flashes of the player he could become in junior and in his Nashville days. The last three years with the Wild is just him putting it together and realizing his potential rather than a flash in the pan. I'm a believer and would love to have him on the Senators.

Like most other Sens fans posting earlier in the thread, I'm also very high on Pinto as a prospect and I would hate to lose him, but I would pull the trigger on Pinto for Fiala if it were proposed straight up as per the OP, as much as it would hurt. It would not be my first choice though, I would push more to build a package around the 7th OA pick instead. Perhaps that's what Wild fans prefer as well if they are not as high on Pinto as much as us Sens fans are.

#7 overall + young low cap roster player (Formenton/Brannstrom) + mid tier prospect (Thomson/Bernard-Docker/Jarventie/Boucher)

A 25 year old 85pt player.

This is a good offer, imho.

It would take more than Pinto to get Fiala but people always underrate our best prospects.

Pinto is an excellent prospect. With how cheap we are, it may not make sense to give up Pinto to get Fiala who will command a very expensive extension.

This is a super trade proposal. Fiala is obviously an electrifying talent and asset. But the Wild cornered themselves without much leverage by giving him the one-year deal. And due to that the Wild should be really happy getting a player like Pinto. Obviously the Sens would have to add more. And perhaps I’m out to lunch. But I like this proposal.

7OA + Formenton + JBD/Thomson seems like a no brainer for us.

I don't think Formenton should be a hang-up in a Fiala, but I could see it happening.

Sens seem to be building a very specific type of team and Formenton fits the MO to a tee.

Sens will offer up value regardless, it's just about finding the right pieces. From an outsiders perspective #7 overall prosbably > Pinto/Formenton/Greig, but I'd bet my lunch that the Senators (organization for sure, likely a good chunk of the fanbase as well) would value the guys we have in the system already.

Understadly, given how good of a season the Wild had they probably want someone who can help in the short term though so Formenton makes a lot of sense from that perspective.

Pinto is an A list prospect. And if you don’t know this I suggest you do some more research on the player to become more informed..
Such an A-List prospect that he didn’t crack TSN’s list of the top 50 NHL affiliated prospects

It’s okay to admit you know nothing about Shane Pinto.

This right here is just further proving the notion that he is one of the most underrated prospects in hockey.

Finally a me me I can get behind!

Pinto was considered graduated from that list FWIW.
Ok can you find me any list from any time where he was ranked as an A list prospect? By the way I’m a Pinto fan I think he’s a very solid B level prospect.

I don't think Fiala will be worth his next contract. Seems like the kind of player that falls off FAST. Ottawa would be smarter to go after Scheifele, at least he shows up in the playoffs.

I also don't think any team should help Minnesoda with their impending cap situation, it would be dumb to over pay for a player you know they'll ave to get rid of anyway
