Such an A-List prospect that he didn’t crack TSN’s list of the top 50 NHL affiliated prospects

Did you seriously just use Craig Button's prospect rankings as evidence?

Dude ranked Vitaly Kravtsov as the best prospect in hockey a couple years ago.

Well the one list someone provided that did have Pinto in the top 50 was from...an HFBoards poll...

Pinto should be on the table in a deal for Fiala, but I'd rather give up the 7th overall pick honestly.
Pinto looks like a guy who could develop into one of the best 3rd line centers in the league and played with a lot of other Sens prospects at UND.

Also very stupid.

You are the dude that said he‘s a 50 points player. Now you come with this crap: you obviously have your own agenda (that doesn‘t involve any facts whatsoever).
I agree I have been all over the place in this thread, but i never once said he was a 50 point player

I think Fiala would be over the moon to go to a team like Ottawa where he can/will be viewed as their "go-to" offensive threat. Add in the factor that he will want to make Minnesota regret moving him. I think we will see him hit another level. If you've watched him play you know he is the real deal. If he could stay consistent (maybe this was just a product of bad line mates), and play on a better powerplay unit, he is a 90+pt player on a regular basis.

He probably only gets 7-8 mil I bet
That is the huge question, "What is he asking for?"

at 5.8M (Buchnevich contract) Fiala has a ton of value.

@ 8M he has substantially less value.

@ 9M he likely has neutral value

@10M he has negative value.

It is so relevant to the discussion, but is being completely ignored.

**I'm not implying he's asking for 9 or 10M, but I included them for perspective.**

It's not being ignored, we just don't know what he'll be asking for.

I wouldn’t want to part with Pinto, but would if we needed to.

What about something like:

7th Overall
Connor Brown
Brannstrom
2022 2nd x2

Fiala
Minnesota 1st Rd Pick

We're not a Fiala away from making waves in the league. And sacrificing 7th overall and/or Pinto and likely another piece or two is not how you build to be a contending team.

I know a few Sens fans are worried about Chabot/Tkachuk getting itchy feet to make a splash in the playoffs (I am too, especially with Brady), but patience is key here.

We have no need for Brannstrom. Connor brown isn't that type of wing and age our gm seems to be looking for at wing. Brown also need to get paid like Fiala

I don't think Brown would garner much interest from Minnesota, and I don't think they'd want to include their 1st to make the deal bigger.

It really doesn't need to be more complicated than Fiala for Ottawa's 1st and a moderate add. Even the add probably relies on how hot the bidding is.

Been patient for 5 years, at some point the team needs to make a concerted effort to take a step up to not fall into the same trap as the Sabres/Oilers failed rebuilds.

I agree that the team isn't "a Fiala" away from competing, but they might be "a Fiala, a Sanderson and a step up from Timmy" away from at least fighting for a playoff spot. There's going to be internal growth from this group same way we saw from Norris/Batherson level up last year.

Fiala would help, but you can't ignore that Sanderson, and hopefully Pinto, will also be on the team and contributing next year. Grieg could follow in a year. That's one hell of a lot of talent coming in, that WILL make a difference.
The east has aging playoff teams like BOS, WAS, PIT that are ready to be knocked off. OTT can do it sooner, rather than later if they move their #7 for established talent, whether it be Fiala, Chychrun(another LHD, unfortunately), Miller, etc.
I can see the position of keeping the #7, too.

I just hope to hell that Guerin doesn't trade Fiala for Boucher and a 2nd.

See, I think we are a Fiala away personally. That gives you 2 scary lines for the first time in a loooooooooong time.

If we keep thinking that "We're not a Fiala away from making waves in the league" then we'll just stagnate and go nowhere. I do agree, we aren't a Fiala away from a playoff team, which is why we need to make more moves than just Fiala.

Also an upgrade on RW from C.Brown and an additional top 4 RHD really would make our lineup playoff worthy assuming all the kids take a big step. Let's also not discredit how much a full year of Pinto and Sanderson will help out.

But that's the problem...bringing in Fiala means you're losing Pinto, and likely Greig, and that 7th overall guy who should be a solid contributor in 2-3 years.

If Fiala was the last missing piece, I would do it. But we'll still have some pretty noticeable holes in the lineup.

You're not losing all 3. Probably not even 2 of the 3.

Pinto is a stud. Before his injury a lot of sens fans had him in the same tier of prospect as Batherson and Norris. I still have him right there with those two, even after their breakout seasons this year.

Wasn't Formenton also in that group like a year and a half ago?
