Wasn't Formenton also in that group like a year and a half ago?
Not quite, but he definitely had some hype too. Forms is a really good player and he's still not at his ceiling. But he probably won't ever reach the same level as Bath and Norris (and Pinto).

But that's the problem...bringing in Fiala means you're losing Pinto, and likely Greig, and that 7th overall guy who should be a solid contributor in 2-3 years.

If Fiala was the last missing piece, I would do it. But we'll still have some pretty noticeable holes in the lineup.
The vast majority of the posters from either team have said nothing of the sort.

Love Pinto and he is pretty underrated in here but he's not nearly proven enough to be close to Fiala's current value, especially after his shoulder injury. Pinto likely goes top 20 in a 2019 redraft but doesn't have top 10 pick value like Fiala does. If you've watched him play, you'd know his ceiling is extremely high, however lots of guys have high ceilings they don't reach, and Fiala is just hitting his prime now.

Pinto's value is highest with Ottawa right now, they aren't trading him.

I think 7th overall + Jarventie/Sokolov/Lassi/JBD sounds about right for Fiala, and will be worth it for Ottawa if they can lock him in for 5ish years at anything under 8 mil. Maybe they throw in TBL 2nd as a sweetener too.

I think fans around the league are really underrating Pinto... honestly, if he wasn't hurt, I don't even know that we'd be having this discussion because he looked poised to be the #2C we needed (which then pushes Stutzle to the wing which then eliminates/lessens the need for a top 6 W).

Pinto is as close to a locked-in 50+pt 2-way beast as you can get. I see no world in which he isn't a very good match-up C who can bring even strength offence, is a good PKer, and is a dangerous shooting/bumper option on the PP. He's a really good, really NHL-ready prospect.

Not saying he returns Fiala on his own, but I also don't think the 7th overall is vastly different in value from Pinto. In fact, wouldn't be surprised at all if we'd rather trade the 7th.
Stuetzle will not and should not get pushed to the wing. HE IS A CENTRE and a very good one, potentially a very, very good one.

Stuetzle plays better at centre and we want the puck on his stick as much as possible.

Needing to fill out our top 6 is a really shit reason to move your potential superstar 20 year old centre to the wing after he proved he is better at that position.

Agreed, but you are misunderstanding my point. My point is that had Pinto not been hurt, there is a good chance he would have excelled as a top 6 C for us and that Stutzle would not have been moved to C. I agree that Stutzle is a C, should be a C, should not be shifted back to the wing, and that we got as much of a silver lining as possible from the Pinto injury via Stutzle's emergence.

Ok. Point taken. I'm a little defensive about people talking about Jimmy on the wing. It was your comment about him rounding out our top 6 that made me think you wanted it to happen. I understand your position better now.

Too many Ottawa fans willing to give up #7+. Makes me worried about Guerin getting anything close to it.
I don't think that Sens fans feel much better about Dorion. It'll go something like;

Dorion: Bill, will you take our 2022 1st rounder for Fiala?

BG: Sure!

Dorion: Ok, we'll add a 2023 2nd. I've heard we have one of these.

BG: Ok.

Dorion: Or you can have Pinto/Kleven.

BG: Kelvin? Are you kidding me? The huge LHD?

Dorion: Yes, that's him.

BG: I'll take him, not that Pinata guy.

Dorion: I love LHD too, Bill. don't know if I can do this.

BG: If you do this for me, you can take back the 2nd. We only have 6 LHD prospects right now- I need to do this, or no deal for Fiala! That's my line in the snow!

Dorion: Ok, Bill.

BG: Is Boucher available? I hear he's big and gritty.

Dorion: No, only our 1st and Pinto. You've already robbed us blind with the Kleven for Fiala deal.

BG: Tell you what. You give me Boucher instead of the #7oa, and I'll let you negotiate a deal with Fiala before the trade.

Dorion: You can do that? Is he easy to deal with?

BG: (evil laugh) No problem! So, Boucher and Kelvin for Fiala extended( evil laugh halted when he snorts Schlitz up through his nose)?

Dorion: I am feeling uneasy about this...

BG: ...(Uncomfortable silence)...

Dorion: How about we give you a 2023 1st?

BG: ..and...?

Dorion: That's it. You have to take our 2023 1st.

BG: Ya know what, you drive a hard bargain, Dory. So, Boucher, Kelvin, and a 2023 1st for an extended Fiala and Victor Rask?

Dorion: Deal! You and I...we are a team!
