I’m a Senators fan. Always have been. post history is there.

That being said, I am able to see through my biases and be realistic. Senators have one top-4 right shot defender. You need more than that to Contend for a playoff spot.

Pinto is expendable, and you have to give to get anyway. He has also been disappointing and his two-way game have been greatly exaggerated.

I have the “parody“ there to not confuse anyone.

I’m literally stealing his name and likeness on a hockey messaging board. I’m covering my bases.
Wasn’t there one available innthe drsft last yr?

He kind of reminds me of a cross between Dach and Nolan Patrick. He reminds me of a young Charlie Coyle.Third line center may be his ceiling.Probably worth a 4-5 defensemen in a trade.

Pinto has been quite bad relative to expectations so far in his career (Not the Sean Couturier clone Senators fans were claiming he’d be).

He is still young and the Senators need a top-4 right shot defender. Who’s available?

Braedon Schneider?
Zibanejad, Trocheck, Chytil. Unless Pinto or Chytil moves to the wing there's really no room for his 3c role.

This makes no sense. He's been filling in for Norris all year. He'll be fine

I’m sharing my opinions. Just because they don’t align with yours doesn‘t make me a “troll” come on now.

Not that the value is close but Pinto as a 3C who can occasionally move up the lineup is worth something around a Tobias Bjornfot on the low end.
Put the price will vary depending on what teams think he is or what he could potentially be.

But yes, Pinto could potentially be a top 4-5 Dman

Lmao this thread is ridiculous. Bunch of people stat watching Pinto or something?

"Pinto's ceiling is a 3C" - He already is that now and he's 22 with barely a season worth of games under his belt
"He might be worth Bjornfot" - Are you for real, that is nonsense

I don't even like the Sens but Pinto is a great bet to be a real good two way 2C. If he was on the market he could probably net a decent top 4 RD. Not the junk proposed in here

What is this with your dumb Senator takes???
Ya, this poster's assessments are pretty bad and are well off the mark. It might be a troll account. Typical post for the main board Trade Rumor section though unfortunately.

Pinto is coming off a year of being injured and is now putting up 20+ goals in his rookie season where he is playing in a role that he wasn't supposed to play in.

He is also a big body, smart, defensively solid, and most importantly, will probably be one of those guys whose future contractual obligatons aren't going to absolutely kill the sens (see a guy like DeBrincat).

Pinto is solid at everything he does. isn't incredibly flashy, and doesn't have a long track record. I would love for the Sens to lock him up to a longer term contract with his current track-record in an attempt to get another decent forward contract locked up.

Our 3rd line could have been Paul - Pinto - Brown which would have been hell to play against and great for Pinto development. Unfortunately Pierre Dorion and DJ Smith are the guys in charge

But to be fair Norris injury didn't help the Sens/Pinto

Still very easy to see how much of a quality player he will be. This thread is the "poster boy" of the average fan evaluating players with hockeydb.com

This should be a sufficient answer

Not sure I know anyone unhappy with where he’s at, but we know how this site works. If a player doesn’t come in an dominate at 20, he’s somehow struggling, or a bust.

That was the narrative for Brannstrom, among others

I asked for Pinto last year and Sens fan passed gas on every single one of those proposals. Looks the same this time around.

He's still an easily projectable player, it would be stupid to trade him unless it really makes the team better

I wouldn't be opposed to putting Pinto on the table for a youngish top 4 RD, but since the Sens have already added a top 4 D in Chychrun, Chabot would have to be going out the door to make room.

Why not better your chances at moving the puck out with more top-4D like the Avs do with Makar, Byram, Toews, and Girard.

Usually, when you have an opinion that is different than/opposite of the vast majority, the onus is on you to provide a detailed, well thought out argument supported by evidence and analysis that aligns with your position. Can you actually say you've done so in this thread?

Well, need some input I guess

Only 3 Sens players have more ES goals than Pinto this season : Stutzle, Tkachuk and Giroux

His xGF% is positive, he's playing in a role he wasn't ready for as a rookie, after missing a whole season

If he was a staple on the first PP, he'd have well over 40 pts by now. But the PP1 is stacked so no.

Chicago would probably be a good candidate with a Connor Murphy just as an example.

Doubt you'd find many Sens fans who would do Pinto for Murphy

We are zero interested in trading Pinto.

Brock Faber for Shane Pinto

Thomas Chabot (26)
Jake Sanderson (20)
Jakob Chychrun (24)
Artem Zub (27)
Erik Brannstrom (23)

Tyler Kleven (21)
Jacob Bernard-Docker (22)
Lassi Thomson (22)
Guenette, Donovan, Hamara and Nordberg are also intriguing

Ottawa is not looking for D-men right now. They need new coaching and better 2-way ability among the forward group

Sure, just like it would be a sensible take for someone to prefer Arber Xhekaj over Jake Sanderson. Just a complete toss-up based on what kind of role you need filled...

I suggest you come back on this later. Pinto just missed a full season with a bad injury, 21 y/o is a crucial developmental season. Norris injury this season also forced him to play against way higher competition than he was supposed to

Caufield is an offensive forward, he will most likely be a ~top-15 goal scorer for years. Pinto will be a 2-way force extremely valuable to a coaching staff. Think Phillip Danault, a guy who was undervalued by a fanbase for years until he was gone.

I’m a Senators fan. Always have been. post history is there.

How many Sens fans are not aware that the Sens will need Shane Pinto going forward, much more than trade him for another D-man?

Pinto has way to many flashes to trade right now.

There are games where he’s one of their best players. You don’t move players who show those type of flashes unless you’re getting a premium asset in return. Not at 22 years old.

Not sure I know anyone unhappy with where he’s at, but we know how this site works. If a player doesn’t come in a dominate at 20, he’s somehow struggling, or a bust.
He’s not 20.

At what age are you able to start to consider what a player is going to be? Do you wait until he a player has a year left of RFA? Or can anything happen and you just never give up on a player? When are you allowed to start to evaluate a player?

It depends on circumstances. Pinto like Mailloux has missed a chunk of development time. Since it his first NHL season it will probably be a couple of years before his full potential is obvious.

Flat out stupid thread. Why bother? No, the Sens won't be trading Pinto, who is primed to be their 3C for the next while.

What is your obsession with the Sens this week . See I’m not the only one asking that question, and OP won’t answer why a new Sens thread every day, Classic rent free.

Little harsh on a rookie I’d say.
