Value of: Shane Pinto for a top-4 RHD.

Now I know this is a troll account. Parody is right.

He's 3rd in NHL goal scoring among rookies, with 18, behind Johnston with 21 and Beniers with 19.

They wouldn't make him available for Chychrun so why on Earth would they trade him for someone else?

Sens fans crowed to no end about how pinto was going to be better than caufield when they were both in the NCAA, now it's trolling to suggest pinto scoring 30 points in 71 games is disappointing? Never change sens fans (unlike your goalposts for evaluating players).

I wasn’t aware this was the Caufield thread.

Meh Caulfied is definitely a better goal scorer than Pinto. That makes him more valuable. But with the offensive threats on the sens I rather have a player like Pinto. Who is also a year behind Caulfield in development.

Pinto does not get you a top 4 RD... not even close. Unless their flawed like Sean Durzi.

Pinto is easily worth more than Durzi who many Kings fans would move for a late 2nd/3rd.

I mean the OP is flawed regardless and it's not like if the Sens put him in a deal they wouldn't be able to get a solid 2nd pairing guy from the right team.

Chicago would probably be a good candidate with a Connor Murphy just as an example.

Sure, just like it would be a sensible take for someone to prefer Arber Xhekaj over Jake Sanderson. Just a complete toss-up based on what kind of role you need filled...

I could see Pinto being worth more then Durzi because Durzi isn't a top 4 RD.

But what good top 4 RD do you think Pinto could actually net in a return? Because there's so few top 4 RD to begin with that teams typically don't want to move them.

Pinto is definitely worth more than a #5, and #6 D there is no arguing that.

AZ asked for him in the Chychrun trade and the sens refused we don't know what else was offered with him and yes Chychrun shoots left. But there also isn't any right shot on the market if there was one i don't think the sens would have to add much to Pinto.

Pinto has had horrific injuries and finally made it to the nhl only to be thrust into a position he wasn't ready for.

Let's revisit this in a year or 2. For now caufield is by far the better scorer, we get it.

Pinto has been quite bad relative to expectations so far in his career (Not the Sean Couturier clone Senators fans were claiming he’d be).

He is still young and the Senators need a top-4 right shot defender. Who’s available?

Braedon Schneider?
don't concur w/OP assessment he's been THAT bad
that said, he's not untouchable
Schneider is not available, We do not have surplus.

I could see Pinto to NYR
return not clear
several variables

I'm not sure why you have such a pet hate for all things Sens, but this is just the latest in a pile of terrible takes.

Pinto has way to many flashes to trade right now.

There are games where he’s one of their best players. You don’t move players who show those type of flashes unless you’re getting a premium asset in return. Not at 22 years old.

Not sure I know anyone unhappy with where he’s at, but we know how this site works. If a player doesn’t come in a dominate at 20, he’s somehow struggling, or a bust.
If OTT was smart they’d dump him now before teams realize how old he is. I mean he’s almost 23 already and the aging curve chart says it’s all downhill from there. If I was making the move I’d add a sweetener if necessary so OTT doesn’t have to retain anything. Maybe a first or two seconds and a B+ prospect.

Just because one player does something, doesn’t mean another will.
Of course not. You raised Couturier though. I'm just pointing even 6oa pick Couturier took several years and about 300 games to develop in to a 2 way 70-point beast. I reckon for 32oa Pinto who just missed a full season injured we can forgive him for not making the NHL putty in his hands before he has played 100 games.

Tbh - I don't think Sens fans expect Pinto to become Couturier; most would be happy if he turned in to Mike Fisher. 3rd line stalwart who is good for 20 goals and 40-50 points each year, kills penalties, wins face-offs, plays 2nd PP unit, marries a hot celebrity, plays for 11 years and then gets traded for a first round pick.

I’m a Senators fan. Always have been. post history is there.

That being said, I am able to see through my biases and be realistic. Senators have one top-4 right shot defender. You need more than that to Contend for a playoff spot.

Pinto is expendable, and you have to give to get anyway. He has also been disappointing and his two-way game have been greatly exaggerated.

I have the “parody“ there to not confuse anyone.

I’m literally stealing his name and likeness on a hockey messaging board. I’m covering my bases.

So you end up with 5 top 4 defencemen, and Ottawa’s center depth suddenly looks like what exactly?

Gambrell? Brassard?

You might want to re-familiarize yourself with the roster.

Going after a rookie center with 18 goals for his defensive game?

Maybe a few Sens fans. Most like myself rated both players much higher than they were drafted with CC better.

No one in the right mind would chose Xhekaj over Sanderson. That would be as bad as choosing Kotkaniemi over Brady Tkachuk.
