we shouldn't be hunting for a C this offseason. Pinto is a capable 2C. If he isnt make a in season trade. Norris stepped up at 1C after a year of AHL. Pinto should step into 2C and struggle for a bit with just college experience but its better for him and the team long term that he doesn't play in the bottom 6.

If he struggles he should be sent down to the AHL until he dominates there.

Nah, Fisher's peak is Pinto's realistic expectation. That's a 25 goal 55 point physically dominant 2 way C.

They're different players though. Pinto has more offensive flair, he's like Brock Nelson.
Fisher was also a pretty tough guy & good fighter, he dropped two big guys in Hedman with one punch & body slammed Hanzus in that debacle with Philly a number of yrs ago.

Fisher was a very good 2-way Centre. Good on draws, defensively responsible, physical, amazing on the forecheck and worked hard every shift.
The only real issue for Fisher was that he lacked some creativity on offense. He had a good shot but he would come in like a bull in a china shop and fire a missile at the Goalie's chest 9 times out of 10 and the other time it was a high hard one over the net. I think Fisher is a decent comparison because I think Pinto will have a number of those attributes plus he is going to be a solid playmaker and probably score 20 to 25 goals per season.

Fisher is the one i use for comparing with Pinto, Norris, Bath, and even Brady. Not that i think any are like Fisher, but in terms of impact on the team. I think Brady is already more impactful. The other 3 i am really hopeful for, but they still have to show me. If they all do become more impactful, then giggity.

It took Fisher almost 10 yrs to hit that peak. My money is on Pinto achieving or surpassing that by age 25. Same with Norris.

Huge Pinto fan. Also a massive Fisher fan and have followed him closely since his junior days on the Wolves. And I think Pinto will possibly have the higher peak.

I see Pinto more like a Ryan Kesler in terms of play style. Not as physically powerful as Fisher, but more of an edge as agitator, and better hockey IQ in the offensive zone.

I think that he and Sanderson will be both be huge turning points for this team and bolster the lineup in a huge way. Like say in video game terms, after Pinto and then later Sanderson have both joined the party, its gonna give us a massive EXP boost, and the Senators will level up a few times.

With that newfound strength we can then move to some new areas of the map, and fight some of those harder baddies that are standing in our way during the quest for the sacred cup

If the rest of Pinto's game is comprable to Fisher, then he will surpass Fisher.

Pinto's one timer is a tool Fisher never had.

I dont really think Fisher and Pinto are similar stylistically. Fisher had tunnel vision, he is faster and has better hands than Pinto. They will play similar roles however. Brock Nelson is a good one, I think Pinto will be better defensively not sure he will have the same offensive flare. He really does stylistically project as a poor mans Bergeron, but I think his ceiling is a very good 2 c. I think Pinto is a better passer/play maker than he is given credit for, almost the opposite of Fisher in that regard. To me he is a perfect centerman for Stuetzle. Big, strong, good hockey IQ, very good defensively, right shot passing to a lefty.

I think we need to manage expectations on Pinto’s offence. I’m thinking 20-20 but hope he beats that.
I agree with this. It could really depend on who he plays with. I dont think you will ever see him drive a lines offense but could be a great complimentary player for a high end offensive guy.

Pinto on TSN1200 this morning was asked about his current weight and height as of today and he said that he "put on some weight" this summer and that he is currently 6'2" 200lbs.

Definitely not going to have any trouble battling for that #2 center spot (assuming Norris is the default #1 to start the year).

Pinto earned 2C in his first few shifts on the ice last year … no doubt he carries that through training camp and into the season unless the Sens block him…

it’s a good sign but him getting 2C is more about how weak our center position is vs how developed he is. I don’t think he makes 2C on many clubs in our division/league.

Last year, I saw Norris being thrust into the 1C spot as a huge benefit to him. He didn't shrink under the pressure, and being up against Matthews/Tavares/McDavid/Scheiffele/Wheeler type of guys really made him improve by leaps and bounds.

It was risky, but with the lack of depth at centre, the Sens had to take the risk.

I think it could be the same for Pinto this year. Not the same elite calibre of centres on most shifts, but he'll be up against really solid opponents, and I think he'll benefit from it.

Only problem is last season was a development season for the team. This year the expectations are higher, so that could mean a shorter leash for Pinto than what Norris had last year.

But again, lack of depth at centre means replacing Pinto with White or Tierney isn't ideal either.

Stylistically I think he plays way more like Joe Pavelski than Mike Fisher. Pinto is always making things happen in front of the net/slot/off wing PP pretty much like JP has done most of his career. Pinto's hand eye is also very very good. He might not ever reach Pavelski's peak but Pinto can be that type of player.

We don't know his ceiling.

Late to focus on the game, great athlete, physical tools to go along with speed and a terrific shot means unlimited upside.

Don't see why he can't become a Wheeler type? Love his Pinto's overall game and regardless of his peak believe he will be a very valuable and important player for a long time.

Pinto isn't an above average skater at all, while Wheeler is one of the best skaters in the league at his size.

Don't like that comparison.

He reminds me a lot of David Backes.
