All I see is Auston Matthews = mercenary for hire. 13.34 for 3 or 5 @ 14.

Leafs are setting up more an Auston friendly landing zone, and comfort happy place to play.

The reason he was added wasn't for Matthews. Come on. Treliving worked with him in the past and apparently he wanted a bigger role in Hockey Operations that he wasn't getting in Arizona. It's that simple.

GMs and coaches like to bring in people they've worked with in the past.

At that price he doesn’t get a NMC, perhaps a limited trade clause, but that’s it. When you look at the numbers that are being thrown about I’m hoping Tree is working the phones hard……..

I really hope Treliving has put it out there that he’s willing to listen to offers on the Fab Four, and that he would have the stones to pull the trigger if a solid offer was made.

I truly believe that the return we could get for these guys, would make our team better. Treliving has a real opportunity to completely reshape this team.

To give it the identity that I think we’re all hoping for…. Hard working, hard nosed players that are willing to do whatever it takes to win!

With three trades, he could redefine the Leafs and make them legit Cup contenders, not just a perennial playoff team.

Because it’s simply not true. Honestly some of the stupidest narratives start on this site. The hiring has nothing to do with Matthews. It has everything to do with Doan and Trelivings relationship. Doan hated how shit was going in Arizona; Treliving starts fresh here, what’s to bring in one of his guys. Plane and simple. Of course it does help that Doan probably has a relationship with both Knies and Matthews but I don’t think that was the driving force at all.

I'm happy that we brought Shane Doan in. Great, hard nosed player and considered by all a genuinely good guy.

I think it is really important that Toronto's management be the kind of people that others in the league root for, rather than root against.

Starting with Burke, we've been the team everyone loves to see lose, even at the league level. It wouldn't be a bad idea to turn that around.
