Not trying to shit on Marner but I did notice when his line got the puck below the goal line that Marner would sit around the hashmarks with 2-3 Panther players in front of him, hoping that Matthews/Bunting/a d-man would find a passing seam, instead of just going to the front of the net to try and open space.

What continues to bug me about Marner in these big game situations is he’s still like a 26 year old kid brother you need to build all this veteran and adult support around.

Like he’ll never become an honest to goodness warrior who can just step into the battle like a Brayden Point and you know he’ll deliver with guys trying to take his head off.

It’s always like a have fun, keep it light, high skill game. Sometimes it isn’t…

Nothing is going to change until the Taveras contract comes of the books, which would be 2 more seasons still left.Opens up alot of cap space for Dubad to hopefully to secure reliable players, a goalie and defenseman for sure. So for Dubad and us fans were stuck with what they have.

Well.....they got 2 days to figure their shit out and come with an extra gear for game 3

f*** outchancing them, you need to get the job done. Boston hung 3+ on this guy every night but our superstars can't get more than 2??

It seemed like the Leafs carried the play and that’s a game we should have won. Time to flip the script, but I agree with the posters who said they are playing like it’s regular season. More focus needed

i had a rough evening and week so this loss doesn't even faze me.

**nsfw**tmi**

had sex on sunday and tore my foreskin. got it circumcised on tuesday, was put under general anesthesia. had to remove bandage today in shower during third period. goodness. painful and traumatic.

i think it's ok now though. but my goodness. what a f***ing week.
Congrats on the sex

So far, it's like we're being Price'd. Part of it is some great goaltending and an equal part is bad shot selection, over-thinking, some posts, and some general bad luck.

This is Florida where one expects to win or lose with at least 9 goals being scored on the night by both teams We "should" be able to win games by allowing only 3 (or even 4) goals against, but only scoring 2 per game will never get it done against these guys.

Hopefully, our luck changes next game and Bob reverts back to the goalie who was benched - for good reason - to start the last series. I'd be lying if I said I'm really optimistic about our chances, but, I'd also be lying if I were to say we'ze toast right now. Just win that next one and take from there.

Leafs played a preseason game. Panthers played a playoff game.
I'll take the bait! Panthers played a playoff game where their goalie made a hell of a lot more saves and ours let in a flick wrister when the game was on the line. We dominated, not sure what you are talking about. Sucks, and credit the panthers for doing what they have done but my lord this take isn't great. I am as mad as the next fan, trust me. Pre season lol

Toronto embarrasses themselves on home ice twice in a row and chokes, where have we heard this one before? Every year.
Embarrass is a strong word.

Leafs played a preseason game. Panthers played a playoff game.

That game felt like a regular season game on both sides, with some old school mugging by Florida and some hot goaltending. The 2 goals that sunk them in the second period felt like typical deadhead shit that plagues them in a game vs Arizona.

The frustrating thing is the path to a long run is wide open. The play quality from
Florida is beatable. And yet, these baked into the DNA kind of lapses and weak goals.

He’s def no Gilmour!!!

Mitch Marner has 6 goals in the last 5 playoff years. They all were in game 1 or 2 of the first round. He gets progressively less effective as series go on
This playoffs both his goals were in game 2. He has scored a goal in a grand total of 4 game of the last 28 nhl playoff games. Pavelski and Draisaitl scored that in one game, this second round!

3rd liners would produce more with 22 mins of hockey and playing with Matthews and Tavares.

Leafs need to get him off the pp.

Marner may look good in playoffs if he plays with 2 hardnosed players that are also skilled
othwse players like marner would go out in teh sunset on a whimper not with a bang

the london knights cute bullshit cutezy plays in playoffs and butthurt attitudes "grown men" trash talk don't work when you are paid 11 AAV to produce and thats all you could muster.

Lily is a huge disappointment for me. I had such high hopes for the kid, but it's becoming clear he's not going to amount to anything other than a 3rd pair defenceman

you gotta give the kid opportunities to play like a top4 D-man, second you gotta tell Gio to stay back as he isn't fast enough and just let Lily do his thing.

How do you think Rielly developed when he was paired with Hainsey?

Found a way to lose

Unforgivable mistakes and God awful goaltending aren't a great mix if you like winning

just when you think they may have worked things out they regress back into what they have always been

extremely talented with massive flaws they struggle to overcome

Talent without discipline and work ethic means absolutely nothing!!!

doesn't matter which field. 1) academics, 2) acting, 3) music, 4) business or hockey

5v5 your highest paid players have to show up consistently. Marner only has 1 5v5 goal so far after 8 games. Nylander only has 1 as well. Nylander has looked dangerous this series so far but we need him to start finishing.
Willy is only the fifth-highest paid player on the Leafs, and although he hasn't scored enough, he's usually been our most dangerous player, despite being on the second PP and usually stuck dragging Tavares around.
