Sure the Devils can loan a player out but I dont think it can be agreed upon to loan for multiple seasons, as the loan process requires him coming over first.

So if the understanding is he comes over and 'practices' in camp, then goes back on a loan; that Im sure is fine. But Idt the KHL club can know as of today that hed be loaned next year already, as thatd mean he never came over and that doesnt follow with the rules of his ELC vs the KHL season (a loan requires he stays the entire season)

Again, id have to take a look as my CBA knowledge is pretty outdated if Im being honest; less time to study it since time just moves quicker nowadays I guess lol

I don't think this is true. Rodion Amirov signed with Toronto last spring and did not come over for Leafs' training camp. It's an unsual arrangement but I think it makes sense for all sides.

He still has to fill out his frame and develop his game before he's an NHL player. Another year in the KHL where he is comfortable and gives him more time to grow as a player and a person makes sense.
It's a good idea. Or a year in the AHL.
And it`s more time for Smith to gain some points and trade him fookin away =-D

I don't think it's that simple. Mukhamadullin to me is more of a potential Graves or Siegenthaler replacement. Big rangy guy asked to play defense and maybe with a physical edge. I think Ty is going to be here or not based largely on whether Luke Hughes plays the left or right side short of a big breakout by Smith.

I had an earlier post about the KHL and junior players. Since Muk was born in January 2002, he's considered a 20 year old for the 2022-23 season. That means his salary doesn't count against the hard salary cap and he can play as the older extra junior player during games.

Someone mentioned that KHL contracts are for two years, but all these benefits go away after this year, that's why they are particularly interested in having him next year. KHL is ok with losing the second year of deal with them and we're burning two years of his ELC to get him over here after 22-23 instead of 23-24.

I'm not that crazy about the burning two years. It's not that big of a deal, one year gets burned all the time, but it seems like we're rushing him over because he's a 1st round pick and they're self-conscious about waiting two years. ELC years have value and I don't see what the rush is myself. I definitely prefer a plan with him staying over, rather than a try-out he can fail and then potentially have him go home, next season though.

Amirov is on the same KHL team and has 2001 birthday, so he's a 20 year old juniors player with the same benefits this season (he unfortunately injured his shoulder and just started playing again.) His contract started this season.

Very reasonable. But if Hughes is on the left, the situation becomes more complicated.
Or we'll draft another left-hand D in the first round and everything will fall into place. Will it?

It also depends on if they re-sign Graves at the end of his current deal and Severson as well. If they do, you know they have two or three spots locked up, which leaves three or four spots to go around between Mukhamadullin, Hughes, Siegenthaler, and the AHL guys. They have a bunch of decisions to make by the end of next season. I'll be curious what happens with guys like Bratt, Zacha, Graves, Severson, Wood, etc. I'm sure some will be kept and some will be moved or allowed to leave if the team goes on a playoff run next season and keeps guys as self rentals.

Would rather see him play next season in Utica, where there would be more focus on his development versus the KHL, but that's not a bad option either.

Can understand he might prefer to stay in Russia. Not sure how dense the Russian population is in Utica beyond Brylin and Okhotyuk.

It's an extra season for a kid who will be 20 when next season starts. I know some kids will cross an ocean to play but if a kid that age can play in the men's league at home it's not terrible. If he needs to physically mature to play in the NHL he can do that in either place. There are enough left handed defenders at Utica right now it might make sense to wait the extra season for a few of them to move on or move up.

This is the tweet from Russia which according to Google Translate says:

Today defender Shakir Mukhamadullin signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils National Hockey League club. #HCSalavat and the overseas club have reached an agreement that Mukhamadullin will continue to play for Yulaev on loan in the current and next KHL season.

However, I don't think that it's yet official that is the case - a couple of people responding in Russian (again, according to translate) were questioning if it was just through this season or next as well.

Yeah, certainly not terrible and the KHL is a good #2 option, just if given the choice I'd prefer he play in the AHL. Especially now that we're able to put together competent teams there.

Ideally I’d like him to finish his current KHL season then come over to NA as soon as it is over . Maybe play some AHL games for even this year if the season is still going after the KHL finishes up.
Then play in Utica to start next session and evaluate from there.
However it now sounds like he is playing this year and next in the KHL? I guess that is better than 2 more years after this one like it sounded like could have happened if he signed with his KHl team

I'm still confused, the Devils say he was loaned back for the remainder of this season, (21-22) nothing about the season after.

The official statement from Salavat was mentioning the next season. Not to mention that otherwise it just wouldn't make sense for them to allow him to sign already at this point.

Btw, I think it also might be that between the 2021-22 and 2022-23 KHL seasons there will be a recall from the loan so he could play some AHL games, hence the announcement was made that way.

So it is a win-win-win situation?
