if you're in Davidson's shoes and you can get real value right now for a contract you want off the books asap and a player that has publicly requested a trade, are you about to potentially lose your deal over a player that is not on the table? that would be extremely risky, take the free square out on the contract while you have it, the 7m saved in AAV will pay for a good portion of Bedard's extension, thats a gift in the long run because he's one terrible year away from being in Seabrook contract territory
