Confirmed with Link: Seth Jones (25% retained) & ‘26 4th to Florida for Knight and a '26 1st

So Florida still owns their 2026 pick, so KD basically gave them the option to still trade it and let us get the 2027 instead? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a trade like that before.
Florida has the option of keeping their '25 1st they traded to Calgary if it is in the lotto and their '26 would go unprotected. We are getting the '26 unprotected because the '25 will not be in the lottery.

Don't like retaining for all those years, but not a surprise given how Seth Jones has performed over the years here.

I am happy to see him leave, though. Borderline ecstatic that I don't have to watch him the next 5 years.

And to get a future 1st and potentially THE future starter for the Hawks? Love it.

Knight's actually got a higher save percentage and lower goals against average than Bob this year. Bob's probably been getting the tougher opponents and Knight's played a lot less games (39 to 23), but that's still impressive for a goalie who is only 23.

only way they get a 1st and Knight for Seth is making his AAV market value otherwise they send him off for significantly less if at all...Knight is such an intriguing piece of this deal, at one point the best goalie prospect in the game

It’s actually potentially tied up in a Calgary trade, so it had to be conditional. Assuming Calgary gets Florida’s 2025, which is all but assured, Chicago gets the 2026.

This is a very good deal for both sides

Kyle did well considering the circumstances. Knight our goalie of the future. Jones will excel with the Cats. Hawks moved on from a malcontent/distraction. Retention reasonable for both sides.

Should be interesting to see the kids get more mins on the backend and Vlasic get even more mins and consistently on the first PP

if I'm Davidson I'm taking all the meaningful picks from other teams and my own non-1sts and putting all of them on the table for young cost controlled forwards with upside, you got the defense group there, Knight in net and potentially Bedard/Misa, go get a couple legit top 6 forwards with all the picks you've acquired and the cap space you have, add Mike Sullivan as HC next year they could take a big jump forward...keep own 1sts to always have the tank option in the back pocket but everything else see ya for the right players...Chicago needs to be in on the Kaapo Kakko, Cutter Gauthiers etc going forward

A+ for Davidson on this deal given the NMC, AAV, public request...adds future trade piece in a 1st and a potential franchise goalie for a guy that had zero interest being here
Couldn’t agree with you more. It wasn’t that long ago that the reality of moving Jones came with retention and adding a sweetener. Now, Kyle actually got some value back.
