It’s a lot more retention than I expected but also a lot more of a player in knight. Hope he plays to his sky high potential. I have faith in Jimmy Waite and knights future development. It far from a certainty but I’d lean toward betting on that tandem.

Then we still got out of Jones' contract (the vast majority of it) recieved a first rounder, and got a goalie who still had a lot of pedigree who was signed for only one more year. Freeing 7 million from a terrible contract is still a positive.

Levshunov and Rinzel won’t be ready so that leaves us with a RHD side that contains Connor Murphy and Louis Crevier. Not great.

Looking at the FA class there aren’t a lot of great RHD available. Ekblad is going to become Seabrook 2.0. The only kind of decent option is Pionk but I guess he’s probably staying in Winnipeg?

As of now our D next year looks something like this:

Korchinski-Crevier
Allan-Del Maestro

At this point I consider musto, bws, and kbs AI bots.

If the Hawks acquire a prime Gretzky or Crosby, musto would still find a way to criticize the deal.
