Anyone else really worried? I am

Hank does not play well in Montreal and it will be louder than ever

I'd be more worried if we had to play the Bruins.

Talbot had a lot of success against the Habs, maybe we should put him in net instead of Hank :sarcasm:

But why was the game originally scheduled for a 1 o'clock start? That's stupid.

Can't argue with that, but since that was the original plan, they're not going to change it for a personal situation.

The whole team might be going to the funeral, but it's still a PRIVATE event. You schedule private events around the NHL schedule, not the other way around.

I think this Rangers team will turn around the recent history of suckage at Bell Centre. The weird French Canadian vibe really threw off past teams; but the recent influx of French Canadian influences (St. Louis, Brassard, AV) will reverse the curse.

Wow you guys are really confident, I'm impressed  Our board seems more cautious than you guys, for the most part.

Just so you know I think the Habs were better defensively than Boston, and we have a young PMD named Beaulieu who you will learn about soon. Price vs Lundqvist should be really interesting. Hoping for a hard-fought win, I honestly have no idea what to expect though.

He's not a secret.

You should go read the main boards stuff if you think we seem confident compared to Habs fans.

My crystal ball just told me we're gonna play Chicago in the SCF, and win.

No worries, the Cup will return to New York City ;)

We don't have players who are slow as molasses. Rangers have a more perfect balance of speed and size.

Bruins are much faster than they used to be. They're not a slow club by any stretch of the imagination.

Rangers defense is by far and away worlds better than Montreal from a defensive standpoint... Montreals strong point on us is their offensive production from their defense, which currently we don't have much of. thankfully we can kind of make do with such killer defensive defense and a monstrous goalie in a hot streak...

Offensively, I'd say MTL looks about the same as NYR... though MTL seems like they have a little more luck in the finishing dept. No doubt it's going to be 3rd and 4th lines that make a difference in this series... I can't see Nash breaking out against MTL's first line, but I'm actually getting confident that he'll score one (He'd be going directly against Max Pax, and I'm not sure how well he plays defensively).

Just my pov

I'd expect that the Rangers want that match-up, but I wouldn't expect it to happen in Montreal. I'd anticipate Montreal throwing the Eller line up against the Stepan/Nash line.

Also find it difficult to consider NYR's defense miles ahead of MTL's. Better, sure.

We have skill and speed as well as they do..but they don't have size like we do.. Kreider has to goon it up in game 1..send a message :yo:

MTL has pretty decent size. The problem is that they have a number of very small, Zuccarello-sized players too. But the size is still there: Vanek, Pacioretty, Bourque, Weise, Eller. Here's a breakdown:

Eller - 6'2 217
Bourque - 6'2 217
Pacioretty - 6'2 217
Vanek - 6'0 217
Weise - 6'2 210
Moen - 6'2 210 (will not necessarily play)
Galchenyuk - 6'1 203
Bournival - 5'11 200
Plekanec - 5'11 196
Prust - 6'0 194
Briere - 5'9 180
Gallagher - 5'9 180
Gionta - 5'7 175
Desharnais - 5'7 170

Emelin - 6'2 224
Subban - 6'0 217
Beaulieu - 6'2 200
Gorges - 6'1 200
Markov - 6'0 200
Weaver - 5'10 183

Boyle - 6'7 244
Kreider - 6'3 226
Nash - 6'4 213
Miller - 6'1 205
Brassard - 6'1 202
Pouliot - 6'3 197
Stepan - 6'0 196
Richards - 6'0 196
Moore - 6'1 192
Dorsett - 6'0 192
Hagelin - 5'11 186
St.Louis - 5'8 185
Zuccarello - 5'7 179

McDonagh - 6'1 213
Staal - 6'4 207
Girardi - 6'1 203
Moore - 6'3 202
Klein - 6'1 200
Stralman - 5'11 190

As you can see: MTL has 5-6 fwds that are 210lbs+, compared to 3 for NYR. The Ds are pretty similarly sized, with the two biggest being in MTL and the smallest also being in MTL.

Overall, I don't see any size advantage here.

Habs biggest guy is 6'2... ours is 6'7 and a couple 6'4 but we're the same :sarcasm:

Well, weights matter a fair bit I'd say. Montreal's heftier on the higher end by a good margin. And Boyle, while good, doesn't exactly play like he has 5-7 inches on all of his opponents. Not sure how you can look at those size listings and determine that the Rangers have some significant size advantage.

Really? Because I really don't see the habs laying out guys like you try to make it sound.. rangers are the bigger team and play like it..you'll see in game 1.. 20 in white is a good example;)

Just stop with your bs already, the Habs play like a speed finesse team, don't get fooled by the physical series against Boston. Oh and Boston does look like it had lost a step, I think trading Seguin was a mistake. The Flyers and Penguins play bigger than the Habs.

I'm not trying to make it seem as though Montreal's an incredibly physical team. They're not. Just that there's no distinguishable size advantage to speak of, and in fact, Montreal's got a good amount of size at this point.

If you feel that size and physicality will play a major role in this series, well, that's fine. I disagree. We'll see on Saturday. :)

Dear New York Rangers,

Please do us a favor and eliminate the Montreal Canadiens. We know that we haven't always seen eye-to-eye; and we haven't always gotten along; but it's time to put that all aside for the greater good. There are MILLIONS of fans around the world rooting for you. Don't let us down.

Respectfully,

Boston Bruins fans.

Will do..and we'll dedicate all our wins to the Bruins:nod:

I think the teams match up pretty closely. It may come down to making Subban let up as many goals as he scores. We don't have anything like him when it comes to putting up points on D, but he does have plenty of defensive lapses. A couple of mistakes by him could negate his offensive output. Maybe Boyle can even capitalize on one and have another moment.

What comments will we see when Lunqvist (inevitably) allows the first goal?

Soft?

Overpaid?

Choker?

Start Talbot?
