The fact that the NHL wouldn't even let them move the game to Saturday night.
Wouldn't let who move it?
Why do you care?

The Rangers requested that the NHL move the game to Saturday night. Who else would be involved?
Halfway there. We can debate about the living on a prayer stuff.
8 wins and 8 to go. It no longer matters what you think of whom. It no longer matters who was traded for whom. It no longer matters what sample size you use to evaluate this team. We can rehash all of these questions in the off season. There will be plenty of time to evaluate trades and performance latter. What matters now is that the Rangers are in the ECF. And are close enough to smell it. What matters is that the Habs are a very, very good team that just caused the exit of what many considered to be the best team in hockey.
I remember 1979. And who was the Habs goalie. Maybe there is some serendipity in that Henke is poised to take this place among such greats as one of the greatest big game goalies of memory. I remember 1994 and what it meant to me as a long suffering Rangers fan. I also remember the LOD running roughshod over the Rangers in another incarnation.
This team showed more guts and fortitude than I ever thought possible. Forget about coming back from 3-1 down for the first time in franchise history. They came back from being shut out in back to back games with an absolute vengeance. Having what in my mind is the best goalie on the planet helps, but every one contributed. Every one showed heart and a new determination. Yes, that even includes Nash who is playing in a way previously unseen. Yes, he needs to score. No doubt about that. But if Crosby still gets lauded for effort, then so too does Nash.
Richards is currently showing himself to be Big Game Brad. Staal was an absolute beast. He can play on any top pair in the league. I could care less how many points he scores. Pay him market value for a top-pairing defenseman, make him Captain and call it a day. Another name to mention is Boyle. Let's not quibble about his dollars. I would rather overpay him than underpay some journeyman 4th liner and then spend even more money in subsequent years trying to replace what Boyle brings. His contributions in the playoffs are invaluable and he truly raises his level in the post season.
And off course, Henke. Can the conversations now end about his level or just how good he is? Arguably the best in the league (as the song says, to me he is simply THE BEST), Best Rangers goalie that I ever recall. And that includes one that backstopped the '94 team. And for my money also includes Eddie.
The team played in a way that any Rangers fan would be proud of . They truly left it all out on the ice in the comeback. And, for my money, sticking it to Cindy is the icing on the cake.
Halfway. The Habs are a very, very good team. LGR!

So you believe leagues should move games if anyone related to a player dies?
I mean no disrespect for the St. Louis family, but trying to change the NHL and NBC schedules for a private funeral is kinda funny..
Nice that the Rangers will attend though.
If the schedule was set in stone, then no. But the schedule was not set yet and really all the games aren't set until game 7 of Kings/Ducks. When Nick Peverley collapsed on the bench this season, should have they kept playing, he's just one guy?

Maybe the people he's referring to are confident.
What could be cockier than Book it?
Yes it was, and you forget NBC, TV-channels run the show...

Something that is actually cocky?
Book it means he guarantees it will happen, a guarantee shows confidence in something (this team) from a fan that just seems like confidence to me.
Cocky is scoring goals and doing the chest bump celebration in a mocking way. IMO.
I think that is a faulty analogy. It happened during a game to a participant. Clearly, everyone on the ice was near distraught.
That is a bad comparison to someone's mother dying a week ago.
