Chevy is on Cjob today at noon

you forgot about him being the pocket pool champ for ten plus years

True. Well, still plenty of time for him to make an impact in that sport.

And the guy clearly knows a thing or two about winning. Maybe just one thing: you still get a cup ring as a terrible hockey player on a historically great team.

And you can still get a salary as a terrible coach on a good team so long as your best players can outplay their coaching.

Never easy being fired or being the one doing the firing. I like others have been on both ends. It sucks. You don't go home feeling great on either side.

This needed to be done to show the players and the fan base that upper management and ownership are listening. Chevy hasn't been perfect but IMO anyway hasn't been horrible. Maybe Maurice overstayed and certainly the systems did.

Hopefully the new HC comes in with a no B.S. attitude and is willing to make players play the right way or see reduced ice time or the press box, whomever they should happen to be and that that HC is backed up on that by Chevy and Chipman. Time will tell but it gives me hope at least.

OK, fine , their contracts are up and they can re-apply for their jobs. This is trying to be nice to the person you want to remove. I've been there.... when you are asked to re-apply for your job, it's time for you to look elsewhere.

My guess is that they will want the new head coach in place by the draft. That gives the new coach time to hire their assistants and formulate their systems and plans for camp etc.
Agreed but it might be a while yet, particularly if they're looking at an assistant with a team that will be going on a deep run.

"I spoke to Dave and had a real candid conversation with him and said we would be launching a full-scale search for a head coach and that if he was interested in being apart of that conversation that he had earned himself the right to an interview and consideration for the role."

Ummm. HOW?!?!

I am sure they will interview candidates as they become available and likely have a final round of interviews closer to the draft.

I guess Lowry has earned a token interview but can't see him returning. It doesn't seem like that is a fit with his son and might have impacted that relationship a bit so I can't see him coming back in that capacity.

Someone mentioned something about the player's saying they needed a culture reset. Chevy said something along the lines of it's refreshing that they're willing to grow or something similar.

Also, someone asked about Scheif and if he asked for a trade and Chevy said he hasn't asked for a trade but Chevy needs to speak to him today to get more clarity on his comments.

Chevy just emphasized that nobody's been fired, only that they were searching for other options and they would be given the opportunity to apply for their own job

Can never do anything with any resolve.

That's on Chipman.

He sets the culture and if he doesn't want to create waves or be a "bad guy" the rest of the group follows.

The NHL can be ruthless and you have to step up and be ruthless when necessary.

Like I said before, David Thomson can message me if he wants someone to take care of things.

Yeah, I think they're being nice to him with the token interview. But I don't think he has a shot ... so why even bother?

This org is even wishy washy when dismissing coaches. I get they're trying to be nice but sheesh.

It's like this organization can't or refuses to use the word "fired".

You have asked your coaches to re-apply for their own jobs. You are telling them you are looking at replacing them because you are not happy with the job they did, but you will take them into consideration. BULLSHIT. You have sent the message and you want them all to walk away on their own so you don't have to actually tell them they are "fired". What the f*** is wrong with this management team? Pull the bandage off and get on with the job at hand.
