"Crazy is measured from 4 to 10, because there is no such thing as woman not being crazy"

I laughed, really, really bloody hard. Reminds of my Jim in According to Jim.

"Unicorn zone, these things don't exist"

Hilarious video, you made my day Benny, I thank you.

**** my manager picks on me for some reason. It was a very quiet day at work, and there were two of us closing and he sent me home at 4 hours even though I only have 4 shifts this week and the other guy has 6

I love ethics and took some philosophy while I was in Germany. I read philosophical works now on most days. Could you recommend me some ethics writers that are more modern or obscure or modern articles ? I still have access to UVics database. I only really know the big mainstream names :(

Jesus, it's been at least 12 years since I did that minor, and you're asking for the obscure stuff? Haha... I'll get back to you. Let me cheat and go back through some old textbooks & journals.

Ewww you like Hume?!?

Wait, what's wrong with Hume?

In a way it is, but anyone who takes their own life is living in a reality that regular people can't understand. It's a world where the only option that looks anything close to good is ending everything. They're ill, they need help.

It's sad, very sad. Especially when a child is left without a parent because of it. We still have such a long way to go as a culture and society when it comes to helping those who are mentally ill.

Mental illness does play a large role in quite a few problems facing society (addiction, chronic homelessness, depression), but it isn't always mental illness.

From the limited story Fuhr gave, it sounds like it could be a fear of jail and what the other inmates would do to him. For a lot of people, death is better than torture.

That, and I won't have to see my ex-wife anymore.

Damn, bro. Did you just recently get that divorce? Seems like it's been on your mind quite a lot.

Wait, what's wrong with Hume?

I just disagree a lot with what he says...

Or is that Kant..

I love ancient philosophers. The more modern.. the more bs, imo. Boethius was pretty good though.

Like him or not, he was hugely influential. Funnily enough, Kant was one of the people most influenced by him.

What do you disagree with in his works? Treatise of Human Nature was a pretty big deal, at least as far as Ethics are concerned. His perceptions/ observations in science can obviously be largely ignored, like most during his time.

Is Hume the one that was like just because the sun rose yesterday doesn't mean it will today, and that whole there's no such thing as cause and effect thing?

Sorry to hear about the fights. That sucks. Sometimes good things have to fall apart to make room for better things, though. You'll definitely find other friends and, hey, you might even be able to repair this friendship over time.

But as for your bored comment, I'll refer to Mr. Louis C.K.:
You live in a great, big, vast world that you’ve seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless; it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you’re alive is amazing, so you don’t get to say ‘I’m bored.â€

Sounds like an extended version of Barney Stinson's theory on HIMYM

I love that line from louis CK. He's become so good at setting up structures to allow him to make some pretty valid points disguised as jokes. It's like the 'of course but maybe' bit from his last HBO special. If he hadn't built that device to deliver the meat of the material, he never could have gotten away with saying it.

He's great at it. Best since Carlin and Hicks, maybe even better when it comes to softening hard messages.

Guy just gets better and better as he ages.
