**** I hate my manager, for some reason he has a grudge against me.

This week we had a Canadian tour event so it was going to be quiet. The pro schedules me for 4 shifts (I am supposed to be full time), and two people for 6 shifts. Whatever, he probably made a mistake the schedule was more complicated with two people not able to work. Then on Friday I am closing with one of the 6 shifters, the GM sends me home after 4 hours and the other guy stays. Well **** thanks Tom, it would be nice if I could get close to the hours I was told I would get when I was hired. Then today I am closing with the same person and I get a call saying not to come in. ****ing eh man, I am supposed to be full time and I only got 20 hours this week. For ****s sake I am bad at this job you just don't like me for whatever reason. A couple people told me that he always has someone he has a grudge on every year. For ****s sake how does this micro-managing ****er even get his job.

Find another job with the extra free time you get and THEN quit this job

It is a golf course so it will be over in October. I will be going to my last year at SAIT in September as well. Might as well just stick it out, quitting would be unfair to the good staff there, mainly the head pro who hired me.

Also, this is just a good place to rant and get it out of my system

Unfortunately, you are absolutely right that it would be in your best interests to stick it out. While the manager may seem like an absolute windbag, if you quit now, it'll be far less likely that you'll ever be able to use this experience as a point of reference moving forward.

It sounds like you have a pretty good relationship with the head pro and since he hired you, I figure you could use him as a point of reference in the future.

Stick it out, take his **** (I know it is easier said than done) and then leave on good terms with the remainder of the staff.

Never burn bridges. Ever.

I just noticed something about arithmetic that I never noticed before.

2*10=20, 20/5=4, 10/5=2, 2*2=4

It works with other numbers too

6*12=72, 72/4=18, 12/4=3, 6*3=18

If you don't see it. Multiplying by 10, then dividing by 5 is the same as multiplying by 2. 10 divided by 5 also equals 2.

It is quite amazing how all these patterns and rules in arithmetic and math work out so perfectly

well if you ever saw 10/5 in your work, you'd cross both of them out and replace by 2, lowest common denominator

Just finished The Road. I recommend it if you want to read a great piece of literature/hate life for a few days.

It's also the fifth book that I have given a 5 star rating on goodreads.

I've heard very good things about the book.

I have not read it but I have seen the film starring Viggo Mortensen which is quite good. I've heard from others that it seems to follow the narrative of the novel fairly well.

McCarthy? I really enjoyed that book as well as the movie. No monsters but humans and it was terrifying. Sucker for tales of fathers and sons or fathers and daughters as the case may be. I cried. It was productive.

Humans are the scariest monsters out there.

I read The Road back when Oprah and other celebs were pimping it. Pretty much the only "popular" book (as in, talked about in the news/on talk shows kind of thing) I've read. Pretty good read.

But if we're talking about an 'end of days' kind of novel, Stephen Kings The Stand (extended version) is a must-read. Even without the 'supernatural good vs evil' side to the book, it's amazing.

The movie adds a few things that don't really detract from the story or the feel but the book is much, much better

The pacing of the novel is just perfect
