I've recently called 911 and called the non emergent line for police. Both were answered quickly. For my 911 call, it was a a suspected heart attack. Fire and paramedics were at our house within 5 min. I called non emergent line for police due to a car accident. Answered immediately and gave me all the info I needed quickly.

All this said, a huge issue is that there are not enough workers for these jobs. So many ppl are just jumping to higher paying jobs, so either we need to help lower income with housing and cost of living or we need to pay more. Or else waiting will only happen more and more.

We are having huge issues at work right now and are just falling behind on surgeries. And most of them are cancelled because of lack of nursing staff.
feel free to get on the OPS (police in Ottawa web site). Click the e-mail links.

then call, see if you get an answer. Ask for the constable whose badge is 1330.. see if you get through.

now, live in RRS and call 911...3 policeman for an area of 19000 people... See how long it takes... 1 hr.. I called, explained the man was threatening to break the door down with a hammer..a pot head and drinker (as is the female).. 1/2 later, the pot head is at my door, threatening to burn my house down..another call to 911. 1 hour later, they get here.... Nothing they can do.

The constable tells me: Install a video surveillance system... Great, the neighborhood is of 4 and 5 unit attached home..one fire will take out 20 homes and 100 people...

I filed reports, etc.. good luck in getting in touch with anyone and getting anything...

It is one giant BS... I wrote every politician under the sun...

My wife died..late stages on cancer.. on Sunday she is feeling good.. they want to discharge her... Sunday night, they give her too much insulin after she told them: no... She died 7 days later.

OH yea.. try getting an Xray in this city..you have to come and go 2-3 time (as in days).. if you are not in early enough, they do not take any more patients.. and good luck if you are not dealing with anything urgent. It could be days. I have an injured foot. I will be lucky to get an xray in another 3-4 days. it has been 3 already.

you are in health care... you see the crap.

Hey Mods, leave it up a while... The people of this city and province need to wake up... IPV. want to declare it an epidemic.. OOOOHHHHH... declare it what you want.. try stopping it!!!!

Seeing Claire Hanna and Pierre being interviewed at the CTC on TSN and couldn't help but notice the seating. When did they switch the seats out? Looks like shit with yellow and green seats.

Assen na yo!
They're actually just coloured shirts draped over the seat backs for pride night

THANK YOU GOOGLE

I am watching the Strade Bianche. Sporza has a live tracker, you can have it translated to English.

"de vluchters" is being translated as 'The refugees"... in cycling it is 'The escapees" or "The escape group'...but the more apt term is "the breakaway" or "the breakaway group"...

All you see is 'Its all over for the the refugees". "The refugees will be caught soon"...

I am dying of laughter.

At the Tour de France, there is " a broom wagon" that picks up the trailing riders who are done. the act is called sweeping up the stragglers.

Can you imagine a line "the broom wagon is sweeping up the refugees"

Oh man, sorry to hear about your wife as you did share her struggles over the past year. I know how hard that is, seeing my mom take care of my dad right to the bitter end.

Condolences, Beech

I’m so sorry for your loss Beech.
thanks @Ice-Tray, @coladin

I hope you are spared the moment of seeing death. There is an ugliness to the final few moments to few hours that is un-real. Should a loved one get there, don't let your kids or Grandkids ever see it. It is haunting.

I hope you and your respective families are spared the ugliness of early death.

Too late for that my friend, I’ve seen enough death in my family to be in a position for my partner and I to starting out a ‘fresh’ family with our children.

That is sound advice and I thank you for it concerning being around death near the end. Past a certain point there is no longer a reason to bring the kids around in some cases.

Keep coming here and sharing with the community, it’s great to have you and and your long winded ventings about random topics lol ;)

I hope we all provide at least a small bit of solace for you, and for each other. :)

Hey Ice-Tray,

Did your lost soul(s) hallucinate?

The final few hours was hard. She kept saying "I have to go"..I did not understand her.. She had bladder issues for years and I assumed, "she had to go..peepee.. ".... I think she meant; go... as in "go-go". I kept telling her go.. assuming pee.. In the end, I told her to go in peace. A short while later, she went.

I started reading up on the "end" afterwards and hallucinations was one symptom.. but, I would be a liar if I didn't admit to "spirituality"... Anyway.. room 1714 of CCVH on Dec 11 at 11 at night, with the temperature in that room about 15 C, hearing her weeze/gurgle because her lungs were filling up with water... a Hollywood producer could not have produced anything that insane.

there is imagery in my head that cannot be erased with a sand blaster!!! It is why I got upset at Makramella and his biggot accusations.

Anyway!! Keep your partner away from Talcum powder and her privates. Women use it to keep dry down there and it is starting to be identified as an ovarian cancer cause.

That’s f***ing horrible Beech, but I would have been there to the end as well. That’s love. Thank you for sharing that story, and for the advice about talcum powder.

My dad, withered away until he could do little else but wheeze and be carted around the room in a ceiling mounted harness. Palliative home care for a quick deterioration. All machinery was on loan from the ALS foundation because they know they’ll get it all back in good shape…. soon.

Its a f***ing death sentence when you get the diagnosis. Not if but how long do I have doc…. Answer: I don’t know, you just hope the deterioration slows or stops at some point. Every day is fear over a new pain in a joint, wondering if the stiffness was from the pillow…. Nope, it’s the disease killing you from the inside out, turning out the lights one organ at a time.

He died a complete invalid from healthy to completely incapacitated within the year, when his diaphragm finally stop working. I was not there for that, and I am both thankful and saddened.

Average of 2.5 is pretty big

2022-2023 harsh precipitation, mild temp.
2021-2022 mild precipitation, harsh temp.
2020-2021 mild precip, mild temp
2019-2020 mid precip, mid temp

2023-2024.. leaves one combo ..... harsh, harsh....uggghhhh I hate winter.

part essay, part letter. A short read.

After that, I made myself a promise, never to run or abandon.
