The worst part of the entire game is when tkachuk was talking shit to the entire bench and no one did anything about it. I'm not talking about at that exact moment, but the entire 3rd period he wasn't touched.

Should have been code red'd big time. "Santiago" embarrassed the "corps" and deserved an appropriate punishment.
The good news is, this team should be ready to answer the bell tonight after that bullshit.

Trade any two forwards we have for Brady and Matthew Tkachuk.

It isn't and shouldn't. It was intermission. Let him yap and parade around his Feb 27th Championship Trophy. It is completely pointless to get sucked into that bullshit.

Who is better off if Chairot and Tkachuk get 5 in the box?

Us. We need to figure out how to get Chiarot a 60 minute game misconduct if Lalonde keeps playing him.

At least there is some good news Buffalo lost to Columbus 5-3 at home. Now if Nashville can cooperate and beat the Pens in regulation and the Wild beat the Isles in regulation at least that is some consolation. There is a chance way may still be 3 points out of the 2nd wild card. However the Wings will need to stop the bleeding and find a way to beat Seattle, Islanders, and Philly. That 5 games in 7 nights is a killer.

Yes, but if we play like we did tonight, what chance do we have in a playoff series against actual good teams? If we get in it is either Boston or Carolina in the 1st round, and can't even see a win against either of them.

I fully agree. I believe we're done The only chance we have in any wild card spot is if the Islanders collapse and even then I don't think we will make it. Start selling.

That’s good news. Detroit had one winning streak and people were planning the parade. This team even after that win streak was only a couple wins better than they were this time last year.
We had every reason to be happy about the team and had we had 2 points out of these 2 games everything would be just fine. And we still have good chances. But Lalonde found a way to lose and lose bad. We outplayed the Bolts, one of the best teams in the league, so bad that their goalie had to steal the game. I can't remember that we have outplayed a good team like this last 5 years.
Then Lalonde decides to play Hellberg vs Sens. Why?
Our 3rd pair and Chiarot have been our biggest problem all season long. Lalonde takes Lindstrom out of the lineup and replaces him with Hagg (10ish games ago) when Lindstrom was playing his best hockey. Then when Hagg was playing his best hockey he replaces him with Lindstrom, after the Ranger's game and we lose 3.

Just about every single fan on this board was saying Seider and Chiarot didn't work together, but it took Lalonde 10-20 games to separate them.
Hronek was killing it offensively and was solid defensively with Maatta, his offense disappears completely when paired with Chiarot. It seems to me everyone on the board wants Chiarot on 3rd pair and Lalonde apparently was asked about it, but Lalonde keeps him with Hronek.

The fans were saying and were expecting at least 3 points from these 2 games. Some fans. Well, we lost both and got humiliated losing 12 to 3.

Well that was embarrassing. Perron stack the place up. No one could complete a pass. Larkin decides to show up in the stupidest way possible. Fabbri unintentionally slew foots someone. And everyone else basically went plaid.

Next time they're in a spot like this, hopefully they remember how bad this tastes.

Yeah, I don't get Lalonde sticking with he D pairs so long. We do have one problem though. If Maatta goes back with Hronek like more of us want, that means Chiarot goes down to 3rd pair to play with the combo of Hagg, Oesterle and Lindstrom. The reason he has Maatta there with them, is because he is safe and can cover the weaknesses of the others a lot better than Chiarot would, so I get it from that stand point. Too bad that Chiarot has been so bad and with a play-style that doesn't suit his skills. Why is he up in the offensive area so much, can anyone explain this? Look back at his whole career, AHL and juniors and he was never an offensive defender, yet he activates more than most offensive blueliners and that part is on Lalonde. Why the heck are you not yelling at Chiarot to rein it in and stay back??? Seider, Walman and Hronek should be the activating ones, with the other 3 staying back.

The rest of the team is what it is, we just don't have enough offence to compete against the better teams. I am also worried about the coaching style of Lalonde draining any extra offence at the cost of better defence. You can't win games in the NHL when you are only putting up 15-25 shots a night and most aren't great chances. Also doesn't help that Raymond has really had a sophomore season (hope that is what it is) and has really not played well at all. 15-20 games in, it looked like he got it going again, but then even before he got hurt, he is kind of invisible most nights this year.

My excitement about the win streak wasn't high because it came against the Canadian teams, with CGY and VAN both playing really poorly and Edmonton which has its issues with defence and overall play which makes them a beatable team even for the lower seeded teams, and all 3 of those teams have bad goaltending this season. Not taking anything away from the team this year, as the compete has been there most of the year, minus a few games like the last 2.

They did their best considering how bad decisions were by Lalonde. He loses the game 6-2 and then follows it with 6-1.

Two, three years ago, I would have been mostly apathetic about these consecutive humiliations.

Today, I'm frustrated and angry. Today, I have discovered I really don't like the Sens.

And you know what? Anger and a hunger for revenge is a lot more more fun than apathy.

Tanguay knows the secret to running a successful power play.
Step one: Indiscriminately change out your pp quarterback with a different pp quarterback. Let that player run with it for about five games then, real quick like, switch back!
When one of the rotating QBs leaves the game with injury, do not be duped into giving the assignment to the original guy - quickly put a third defender out to quarterback the next pp and repeat the process.
Step two: Sit back and savor your success.

The major difference might be the FACT that we were slotted in a wildcard spot before the tampa game. But go on.

This is why it would have been incredibly short sighted to be buyers at the deadline. The team isn’t there yet.

Sell what you can, and keep building. This season has been a major step forward, but they’re still a year or two out from being a real playoff team.

It's kind of sad that Larkin was only noticeable when he was cheapshotting their captain. Getting blown out of an important game is not great, but it happens. Getting blown out in a game the very next day against the very same team with the very same consequences is worse. The guys wearing the letters need to look deep. Perron was terrible. Larkin disappeared. Copp and Chiarot we middling but at least not noticeable in a negative way. Who else was wearing a letter in those games?

Being in the second wild card position in the middle of February is pretty much meaningless.

I am fine with Larkin taking a run at Tkachuk. Not the easiest thing for Larks to do, shouldn't be his job, but at least he TRIED to deal with that buffoon.
But that's the thing. No one needs to deal with that buffoon. "Dealing" with that buffoon is playing the game on his terms. You ignore the buffoon and play your game. Except we didn't and we were more concerned about dealing with buffoons than we were completing a frigging pass.
