I'll take Volchenkov back anytime.

You might reconsider that after tomorrow's game....

Personally, I think if all we'd lost was Karlsson, we'd me much more amenable to a deal like that.

Thing is though, with Spezza, Michalek, Cowen, Latendresse and everyone else hurt, it just seems like Tallinder won't be enough to overcome our injuries THIS year, and is pretty unnecessary NEXT year.

I saw the Senators line-up today in this thread, and I was like holy ****, I only recognized like 6 forwards from last years roster and only like 3 NHL defensemen. I was like what happened?

I forgot Walking Dead was on at 9.....:shakehead

Out of curiosity, what would you pay for him?

Is Volchenkov joining him?

Maybe something worth a 3rd or 4th round pick, so either a pick itself or a player worth that. You haven't seen Lantendresse skate and you're team made it to the finals last year with Volchenkov.

Our team almost lost in the first round because of him. He was out there for like 8 of the first 9 goals scored by Florida, I think it went even further than that.

Volchenkov is not the same player he once was. He's a third pairing defensive/PK specialist who is at times a nightmare to watch even strength. He is fearless, I'll give him that, but he doesn't hit anymore with the Devils, and he constantly screens Marty on goals (just look at the Devils/Flyers game Friday night).

He's well overpaid for what he brings, but it doesn't really matter to the Devils who aren't pressed for cap space. He brings a unique game that very few players bring, so he's very valuable in that sense.

Not signing Volchenkov was a really good decision at the time and in hindsight. Glad we didn't go down that road. He'd be even worse in a Maclean system.

Now, on December 30, 2006, Elias Sports Bureau reported that 32 players scored their first career goal on Marty. Since that point…

Tomas Fleischmann (2-24-2007)
Darren Haydar (10-13-2007)
Marc Staal (11-14-2007)
Keith Aucoin (1-10-2008)
Brian Boyle (2-2-2008)
Ryan Carter (2-8-2008)
Kyle Okposo (3-21-2008)
Martins Karsums (4-3-2009)
Christian Hanson (4-7-2009)
Matt Gilroy (10-10-2009)
Tim Kennedy (10-28-2009)
Carl Gunnarson (1-29-2010)
Zack Boychuk (2-13-2010)
Jordan Caron (10-16-2010)
Andrew Gordon (12-21-2010)
Zac Dalpe (1-1-2011)
Ryan McDonagh (4-9-2011)
Matt Read (10-8-2011)
Mark Flood (11-5-2011
Brendan Gallagher (1-27-2013)
Robert Bortuzzo (2-2-2013)

Which Senators player is joining this list tomorrow?

Fun fact, Malkin is the only player that scored their first goal on Brodeur that has had over 75 goals as of Dec 30, 2006. I think Fleischmann and Okposo surpassed it though.

He would be downright deplorable in a Maclean system.

Volchenkov gave us some great memories, but the system we're playing these days is just not a good fit. I'm surprised he's been as bad with the Devils: I thought that was one of the few teams that would mitigate his declining game because of the system they play. Apparently, I was wrong.

DeBoer has put in a more uptempo system. It's clear five-on-five he's a bit of a liability, not atrocious, but I'd rather see a smoother skating guy like Greene out there than him.

PK and in defensive situations, he's probably the best guy you can ask for when he's not screening Brodeur.

Shh. Quiet.

You're ruining the over-exaggerating effect of my hyperbole.

;) Not a serious proposal of course.

Incidentally Zippy, will Loki be playing tomorrow? Has he been ok?

Playing tomorrow in Josefsons spot with Barch and Butler. It'll be his first game as a Devil.

From facing a rebuilding team riddled with injuries to playing one of the best teams in the East. Hopefully it's not a blowout.
