Without obviously knowing much about the $$$$ for long time - From looking on the outside, The Reynolds group was always my first choice hopefully the $1B plus offer wins them the Senators!

Super, super exciting.

Even more when you consider what RR did with Wrexham when he first took over:

1. Brought in an experienced advisor to lead a CEO search (Shaun Harvey, who was formerly CEO of Leeds United - a Premier League club)
2. Hired a top-flight CEO (Fleur Robinson)
3. Brought in a big-money coach who had a history of winning (Phil Parkinson)
4. Brought in a big-money player (Paul Mullin).

He didn't mess around from day 1.

Obviously the NHL is a much higher tier, and more expensive league, but I'd expect similar swift action.

This team was basically at rock bottom with Melnyk. We were trolled for years about how nobody would ever buy this team and should be thankful for him or they'll move. I can't imagine anyone not being over the moon about the current state of things after what transpired,

You’d also have to think the $ 1 billion offer is in conjunction with their estimations for revenue streams. Like if they are planning to do something similar like Edmonton did with their Ice District then all that land with bars and hotels and restaurants would be massive for them. I would also expect higher ticket prices/drinks/food etc. but just in general having them downtown will be a huge lift for everyone.

This has got to be the most exciting time to be a Sens fan
So much this. The possibilities are so exciting. RR doing a Wrexham style show on the Sens could be absolutely fantastic. So much content possible regarding building a new arena and a behind the curtain look at the sale of the team. Not to mention the actual hockey involved around a young, up and coming team.
If the show has even half the success of Welcome to Wrexham, I could see the sponsors lining up. Might even be helpful in attracting and keeping free agents. The good vibes possibilities just seem endless.

That would mean he is filming right now. The meetings with Bettman....LeBlanc and Dorion.....Alfie maybe. Anna and Olivia.

At $1Billion, it’s going to be hard to find support for public money to fund a new arena. Maybe the tax payers would pay for improvements to infrastructure and other things that enable development of peripheral ventures.

I hope it doesn’t but 0-11 in elimination games since 2004…. Chances are not good for game 6 in Tampa. Then it’s a coin flip back here for game 7 and we all know how that goes. All I can tell you is the next 2 games my liver is going to hate me lol
Gamblers fallacy lol

I would argue the awful record in elimination games actually works in TB’s favour, Leaf’s have to be holding their sticks tight!

Well new report RR is bidding a billion +
Don’t know anything about this, was out golfing all day.

Could be a validation of the “low bid” from the RR group rumour, and when being informed that they were the preferred potential new ownership group, were convInced to up their offer, to be in line with the higher bid(s) or otherwise being passed over…. Who knows?

They are especially at home. Last night was very similar to game 7 last year. Too much dancing with the puck, not enough simple hockey that did them well in games 3 and 4. Too many passes not enough shots. Also Keefe got out coached last night. The 4th line played too much, Holl was a disaster. Tomorrow if I’m Keefe I’m playing Matthews and Marner 25+ mins. Doesn’t make sense saving these guys for the future when we never been past the 1st round. It’s do or die with this core now

For the first time in the bidding process, I feel confident Reynolds and co. will own the team. They were always the attractive choice, but $1 billion bid seals the deal.

So I ask, what % chance would y’all give the group at being the successful bid?
