Neko Sparks would be another without a real estate (or really any) background.
I think ive read they have 15+ investors in his group. I don’t think we’ll really know everyone that is part of that bid unless they win out but you’re right i don’t think any of the names that have come out so far are in real estate.

Still, looks like a few of their investor are in the entertainment business, i couldn’t see them pass up the opportunity of building an event center downtown in the country’s capital. I feel like that is their biggest motivator in this process, not necessarily the NHL team.

POHO role is to interface between GM and ownership while managing GM. Not the toughest role.

Took 2 weeks in Carolina.
POHO interfacing between Melnyk and Dorion could be turned into a comedy show!

Maybe, but the Neko group has the most money I thought.

We don't know that. They apparently had the highest non-binding bid, but at that stage the bidders didn't have to show their financing. They also apparently have some UK billionaires among the investors, but we don't know how much those investors are actually in for.

An interesting nugget in Garrioch's piece today.

"We’re also told at least two of the seven groups involved in the bidding have no interest in moving downtown and would rather spend less money to refurbish the Canadian Tire Centre."

That would be awful. They're dead in the water long term out there. Survive but never thrive.

Could be the case. It's also interesting timing for someone to leak that when Calgary just got some gubment help at a time when pretty much everyone wants to have this big attraction downtown.

I wonder if there verywill be any from the Board of Directors who are making the decisions for the Sens if they are interviewing for jobs with any new ownership? What will happen with Anthony LeBlanc for example after the sale?

Every Owner, of any pro sports team can don whatever they want…. Just look at Jerry Jones.

They got the donuts? Excellent....
Surprised no one is talking about this:

Remington Group putting up $1B bid

They are also in talks with Jeff Yorks local group and have brought the KZA indigenous org to the table as well. Looks like they will be the new ownership group.

It's funny how Bruce won't even mention Roustan's name in his article. He's just the owner of a hockey publication. I wonder why that is? ;)

Assen na yo!

there are rumours the RR is not the highest bid….maybe even lower than a few others, and there are rumours that the NHL is trying to do some sort of shepherding to either up the RR groups bid, or getting another group ,involved with the RR group, to sweeten their bid…. Rumours, not a good look

This is why putting stock in rumours is a tough bet. Life comes at you quick.
