Yup, he has said a ton of nice things about him in the media, it was a nice eulogy of sorts. I think we’d expect that from most folks in his position, especially given that his children still owned the team.

My point is that Dorion would have been the first point of contact for much of EM being EM. I’m arguing less for your sympathies, and more lobbying for your common sense. First victim of his behaviour wasn’t mean as an amount, but point of contact.

It’s funny, PD just mentioned how this off season and season were the best times he’s had as a GM of the team. At first blush we look at all the moves and the rise of the young team and we can understand. After a quiet moment of reflection we consider what is missing.

I mean I guess, if you sign an extension and continually carry the monkey of another man on your back I guess you can be described as a victim, but I mean Dorion has been here for over a decade and accepted promotions and extensions and praised the man.
As far as Dorion as moderater compared to Murray - under Murray lots of the fan anger fell onto the coaches and players and I think that was intentional - coaches getting fired all over the place and players being sent out of town under clouds of anger Heatley, Alfie, Spezza. Dorion stood by his coaches and never let them be abused as Murray did, but they both definitely had their summers of Heatley and Alfie and Karlsson and Stone. The fan anger fell more on Dorion’s shoulders when he wouldn’t fire coaches and the owner who used to lash out at the coaches (Dave Cameron, Paulrus) started to point fingers more at the fans. So yes, was Ottawa management a gong show - please see my previous 7000 posts. But you have to judge them both - and I wasn’t a big fan of Murray either, so Melnyck has part of the blame but Dorion has to be responsible for his actions and divided loyalties - last year he said after his team finished last again and was out of the playoffs he’d “spend to cap if the fans sold out 41 games” and that statement showed how damaged the organization was behind the scenes, the problèmed owner was dead but his damaged and disrespectful opinions of the Ottawa fans legacy lived on in his GM.

Well not since you said this, earlier today.

Dorion and Melnyck had no story for Ottawa besides grievance and victimhood.

Yes there is seeing yourself as a victim of your own business practices, and being a victim of personal abuse.

I could get further into this in a post that will blow your mind, but it’ll take me some time to write so let me know if you want to read it first and have your mind blown.

Well, I can argue with the sentiment living on. Sometimes things are what they are for good or for bad. Some fights you can win, others you cannot.

It remains to be seen if PD will have enough runway left to complete his vision, and if that vision is enough to turn some fans.

Probably dodged a bullet here with this clown seemingly out of the running.

Wow, just what we need, another drama queen owner. No surprise the guy singing Melnyk's praises now and in the past is also a snake. Thank f*** that this loser didn't end up with it to continue torturing Senators fans. Love the quoted hollow words about Melnyk's passion of bringing the cup to Ottawa. If he were that passionate about it as the primary goal, things would have been different, don't bring that nonsense.

Soooo who are we talking about here?
Graeme Roustan, owner of the Hockey News and a sporting goods company. He was buddies with Melnyk because they are cut from exactly the same cloth. Roustan claimed to be putting this mysterious bid together for the Sens involving an indigenous group (why an indigenous group would invest almost a billion in a hockey team was never quite explained), which seemed strange because Roustan simply doesn't have that kind of capital at his disposal. Talks a good game, though. Not surprisingly, now that binding bids are due, he seems to have dropped out, and is now taking thinly veiled shots at Ryan Reynolds in the process.

Roustan, guys a tool, he's also wrong since the executor of Melnyk's will passed the team on to his daughters, his daughters hired Galatioto, Anna and Olivia can sell for however much and to whoever they wish assuming the BOG approves the sale.

Also worth pointing out the NHL can't be too happy with a prospective buyer yapping about the process.

Welp, Mr. Roustan seems to think that the Reynolds group is odds on favourite.

This guy has some real negative energy.

More talented than Roustans wife? Idk Roustan or his wife.... But probably?
It's about The Rock vs. Reynolds. article says it can't be sold to a celebrity just because they are handsome and funny with a much more talented wife.

So, its Rock or Ryan and we must get to the bottom of this.

but is she "more talented"?
Probably the funniest part of Roustan's whole rant was the implication that Blake Lively is somehow more talented than Ryan Reynolds. When God was handing out good looks Blake was definitely standing in the right line, but she has never been a Hollywood "A" list member and never will be...

Yeah if you’d ask me in which movie/series she’s starred in i wouldn’t be able to name one lol.. Tbh the only reason i know about her is bc of Ryan Reynolds but i am also probably not the target demographic for her movies either

Maybe Roustan is a huge gossip girl fan?

The Shallows and a Simple Favor are her biggest credits as a leading role I would think. Maybe the Age of Adeline. Nothing Earth shattering there as she's definitely more of a supporting actress.

I remember seeing her in Accepted for the first time.

Mathias Nordstrom is the hockey advisor for the Neko Sparks group. Mats Sundin is the hockey advisor for the Kimel group.

All of these bidders have people who they've tasked with evaluating the hockey ops of this team. It's not something they'll wait to do until after they take over.
I agree with your comment. I could not recall Nordstrom or Sundin being part of any bids.

Its also been pointed out in the media that the "positive" meetings between Dorion and prospective owners is to be expected since he still has some authority before new owners come in. Prospective owners would not want to leave Dorion with the impression that he is definitely gone.
Idiots and excrement holes do not rise to the top, do they?!

The way the article is written, that comment comes off as more of an intended slight towards Reynolds and less of a compliment to Lively. Boomer sexism at it again

I think the hold up here is most likely all bids want more land at LeBreton as part of the development deal. Their business models are preobably reliant on that

could also be that the Current owners want to accept the bid from one group, and the NHL prefers another group, as the NHL does have “Final Say” over who becomes the next owner… not the current owners.
