I'd guess this year? But I don't know what the status of their potential new rink is. If there's a chance it's future is in doubt, they'll be getting Bedard if past history is any indication.

Assen na yo!

Arizona's future has been in doubt since they entered the league.

They got the donuts? Excellent....

But they're playing in the newest rink in the league! :)

Their problem has never been needing a new rink until now. They've had the rink in Glendale since before Crosby was drafted. Now the location sucks for the market, it's the equivalent of the Senators playing in Orleans, but it is kind of hard to beg for government money when you have a perfectly good rink that's just in the wrong location.

I think it was the right time for Biebs.

Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen just sold their catalogues for massive amounts. Frankly, I don't think Bieber's music will stand the test of time. I just can't see a reason for people to ever go back to it. He wasn't really a game changer in his field, and I don't think the quality will bring in new people to explore it. Modern pop has a real problem with "sameness" to it and I think his music qualifies. His popularity will only go down from this point. So selling high was probably the right call.

Plus he's had some medical issues so maybe he just wants to be done with all of it.
I don't want to offend anyone, but its teenie bopper basic bullshit made for the purpose of making money first and foremost. The mere mention of "standing the test of time" is humorous to me in the context of his music.

Different strokes and all that, but I'd cash out and leave that behind too.

As a metal head and old school gangsta rap fan that can't stand Bieber's music, I'm afraid artists like Bieber, Drake, etc... will be remembered for a long time just due to digital music access.

This talk of musicians from Ottawa has me thinking of Alanis Morissette, watch her randomly pop up wanting to be in on ownership lol

Why would it be a dig when, one, it was a geographic comparison and, two, Glendale has way more amenities than Orleans that is nothing but a bedroom community?

Assen na yo!
I think you're self aware enough to realize why it was a dig at Orleans, if not, oh well...

I might be obtuse but I don’t get the dig. Can you explain ?
Bert hit the nail on the head, why bother bringing up Orleans when the current location is pretty much the same situation? The difference between Orleans and Kanata isn't big enough to bother imo, both are terrible locations for an NHL arena.

Orleans just getting dragged around these boards and Orleans did Nothing to provoke these insults.

I know personally that Orleans would love to have an NHL arena but never asked because of posts like this….just mean

I see what you're saying. Old curmudgeon and all that. I listen to music from the 60's all the way through to today from pretty much every genre out there other than country. 2+TB's of music curated on my Plex server.

It's all personal taste, so it was a bit of a joke, and like plenty of music other people would consider bad, but I think his music is absolute bullocks. Fit for the pit and not worth the tape at the archives.

Not to mention, the more artists selling their catalogs for huge money, the less money left for those late to show up at the table. There's only so many advertisers and iconic songs and ways to use said songs to sell people stuff (or to fluff up a movie soundtrack).

If I was in his shoes, I'd cash out. $200 mil is enough to live the high life and do whatever quite easily for the next 60 years and have enough to set up the kids and grandkids incredibly well.
Crazy that Springsteen sold his for more than Bieber and Taylor Swift combined. I guess it's stood the test of time...but I could never stand his music.

At some point, you may as well just throw some kid on youtube $100 to use a song he/she mixed instead of paying $100k for Born in the USA or something.

I wonder if it includes any future music Bieber writes. Would be pretty cool to cash out a few albums worth and then still hang on to anything from then on. If not, well not much incentive for him to bother getting back in the studio so long as people want to hear him play his old stuff.

I like many different types of music including some of the big band music: Dorsey, Ellington, Basie, Shaw, Miller, James.

Well if Ryan Reynolds is involved you can probably count that out!

Was just trying to be more analytical in what I was saying. Bruce and Bob's music has already stood the test of time and will continue to. Biebs is very disposable pop trash. I guess maybe people will remember "Baby" as a cultural curiosity of the teen idol resurgence but that's it.

Maybe but we are running into an interesting issue.

New music just doesn't hold people's attention. Be it because of cultural stratification through the internet or converging production and songwriting methods, it's a significant topic to discuss.

Age. The younger boomers and the Xers are now the target money demographic for advertisers. This is why the 80s are startign to make a comeback. Xers have been known to be especially nogalistic (for whatever reason. Aside from the music, that decade sucked). In another 10 years it'll be all the millennial cultural keystones exploited to make a profit.

On another note, Rick Beato is amazing. Love his youtube channel

And those of us way out east would LOVE to see the Sens move to Orleans. Have no idea where an arena would fit, though (unless you found a spot on Innes). But that definitely would be a nightmare for transportation. The 174/17 definitely needs additional lanes as it is.

As far as I'm concerned, today's music is way better than the mostly regurgitated, safe and boring popular music from the 60's up to the 90's.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing the same goddamn songs every where all the time. If I have to hear The Weight or The Night they Drove Old Dixie Down or The Counting Crows, I will kill someone.

North America has a real problem with moving on from shit music that got a lot of air play. Old Music is mostly inoffensive and unimaginative which is why it unfortunately has seemingly infinite lasting power.

This is why the 80s are startign to make a comeback.
The 80's comeback has finally ended you mean. It lasted from like 2005 to 2017. The kids have been dressing like it was the 90's for a while now.
